Re: RoboCop

I like the new colour on him - reason being is that it fits more with what police officers wear now.

Back in the 80's cops wore light blue/bright blue - rarely did you see them wearing darker blue/black we see now so it fits more with what modern police officers are wearing.

Also I like the line "it is more tactical"

Since when did officers need to worry about looking tactical?
Think about that one

It looks like in this one, they will KEEP the arm and that open hand is to show that.

They're trying to be different from the original!

Huh, so if they're trying so hard to be different, why not just make something original?
That makes sense lol. I actually didn't give that any thought when I said it. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw his open hand was to paraphrase a line from Of Mice and Men.

Well, compare this new Robocop's black "tactical" paint scheme with the old Robocop's reflective metal "non-tactical" paint scheme.

I get that the idea of the old one was to make Robocop look like he was armoured out the whazoo. I mean, Detroit was a war zone in those movies. You needed something that visually looked like you couldn't even dent it. Robocop was a symbol that OCP wasn't going to put up with any of the criminal element. Robocop sent criminals running scared, something the regular police couldn't do. Then again, the old Robocop did very little police work, even going so far as to kill people after saying they were under arrest. He never really tries to apprehend anybody.

The "tactical" matte black of the new Robocop does the exact opposite. This Robocop won't send criminals scattering to the four winds when he approaches. Instead, he can apprehend and do real police work. In theory. I suspect that this Robocop will go in all guns blazing just like the old one, and do very little actual police work.

Or, like actual police, end up hitting anyone with his bullets.

Murphy, it's you.

Wish they had Anne Lewis in the new one. She was the first believeably strong, independent female character I'd ever seen on film (other than Leia Organa). I had the biggest crush on Nancy Allen in the late 80s
