Re: RoboCop

Why does it bother you so much that the new Robocop is keeping his human hand?

Re: RoboCop

People wear gloves all the time to do menial tasks. Why would you cover 95% of a guys body and leave one of the most vulnerable spots open? It's a dumb choice.

Re: RoboCop

Exactly, looks aesthetically bad as well as the flip down Iron Man crap visor...where as bolted on the OCP product to really add protection against criminals tampering with it makes more sense, I also loved the fact the original had a subtle asymmetrical shoulder plate design.

8:14 in Weller is bang on regarding what i think about this crap movie and how it will live up to the original.

Police officers don't wear gloves... The rest is "covered" because it's just not there anymore.

Re: RoboCop

Looks cool.
Disappointed they felt the need to make him black.
Looks more evil and less human.

It's the little things that studios feel they need to change to differentiate from originals and "update" classic chracters that so often make it much harder for me to feel any nostalgiac connection with their iterations of them.

Flames on baytomus prime is a terrific example of this.

So they stole the idea from Lord Vader?

Re: RoboCop

My biggest issue is with the changes that they've made to the storyline.

Car bomb is boring. He should die in the line of duty, not to a wussy ass car bomb.

Similarly, I liked how OCP was the big bad corporation that decided to take this police officer and turn him into a robot that they "owned" without anyone's consent or knowledge.

In this new one, by asking for his wife's consent, they not only make OCP look less like the villain, but they make her selfish and complicit in him becoming robocop - which is really not a "cool" thing at all. Being robocop is a terrible thing for Murphy, and he suffers for it. You've just made his wife an accomplice in that suffering for what we can assume are her own selfish reasons (wanting to keep him alive, hoping he'll be like he used to be with her and her family).

Similarly, his kid gets to meet him. I think one of the big struggles and emotional pains for robocop should be the knowledge that he can never tell his child or wife who he is, because they're better off grieving and moving on, instead of knowing that their dad/husband is a robot and suffering with his unending tormented "quasi-life". By having his kid and child know him as robocop, it takes way that pain and substitutes a whole new awkward relationship. instead of being the father who has to watch his family from a distance, knowing they must always think he's dead, instead he's the father who can't fit in and wishes he was dead.

They're taking all the most emotional and deep tragic parts of robocop and messing with them, which is not a good starting point, imho.

LOL! I'm starting to think it was your design. You are absolutily right Pascal, This movie will be the best movie in the world and it totally needed to re-made.

Re: RoboCop

It's ok to redo Batman, Superman, Captain America (all sucessfully) and the likes, but not Robocop? The original often looks the best... until it's surpassed. To judge a movie on a short trailer is absurd. We'll see next year.

Re: RoboCop

my bet it will make a lot of money and will potentially create new fandom for it

the human hand part - i like the idea so he can still touch and feel even for that just one hand - also good for handprint scan / fingerprint identification

they shouldve kept the original colours but hey cant do much about it cus its already filmed and set to release

^agreed with judging a movie based on trailer - i have a good feeling about this and i bet itll make lot of money and all the people the bitched about it will see it in the theatres lol jk jk
