It is Hasbro version. Chinese online shopping website taobao.com was celebrating a 9.9 (September 9th) shopping festival and they have crazy deals. Someone got 5 combiner wars Onslaught for $31 CAD in total ($6 each). Other deals were like MPM04 for $95 CAD, Titans Return Trypticon for $120 CAD, Super Girai + God Bomber for $110 CAD.

And you need Alipay (similar to Paypal) and taobao account to buy those, plus you need an address located in China and someone who are willing to carry the big box to Canada for you

taobao.com has varies shopping festivals throughout the year. There will be 10.10, 11.11, 12.12 festivals in the next few months. This was also my first experience buying stuff during these festivals. It was a lot difficult than I expected for several reasons: 1. You need to buy coupons for $1 Chinese Yuan that are available once a day starting from a few days before September 9th, and the quantity is limited (100 every day). The coupon is something like $100 off when you spend $300 and it is crucial for good deals. 2. There are different coupons. Some you can combine, some you cannot. You have to know the rules pretty well to get the best deals. 3. There are hidden promotions. For example, the guy who bought 5 Onslaught for $31 CAD realized all combiner wars figures are 30% off plus $100 off when you spend $200. And on top of these you can apply other coupons I mentioned above. 4. There are so many things you can buy to make it to the discount threshold you have to play around with the shopping cart and before the festival goes live you cannot try that before hand.

Overall, it is the "Asian" version of US Black Friday, with much more complexity and competition. It is fun if you can figure all these out since the final deal is just crazy. If not, just enjoy your "not so good but good enough" deal like I do.

From a Japanese eBay seller...

On a different note. Do certain eBay sellers (eg. those from Singapore, Hong Kong..etc) tend to lower the declared value of the goods and to mark their parcels as "gifts"?

I find almost all chinese sellers will mark a low value just from my experience. I'll ask USA sellers to do the same which gets mixed results. If a seller is using the global ship program then there is no point since duty is auto added.

I just bought something from ebay shipped from China. Hopefully there wont be any import tax. One reason I dont use ebay that much is because of the ridiculous shipping fee and unpredictable import tax.
