How to sell a Canadian Pepsi Edition Optimus G1

Hi all,

I'm sorry to ask this dumb question, but there is a story behind it which I'll go over briefly.

My parents house has recently had the foundation of their home collapse and it is quite expensive. We were cleaning up what we could downstairs and stumbled on this while going through all my Dads Pepsi memorabilia. He's worked for Pepsi for 40 years now and was given one of these as a gift for his hard work.

Anyways my parents are trying to save enough money to fix their foundation and I googled most of the stuff he had and this seems to be a piece that is quite rare/possibly expensive.

Since there isn't much on the internet to help me in this scenario, and because my local comic book/toy store is pretty useless, I though I'd ask all of you fine gentlemen (and women) if you had any insight.

By no means is this a rushed thing, they're going to borrow money and pay it off, but it'd be nice if a little chunk of it could be covered with this toy.

I'll try to get some pictures of the toy when I see them in a few weeks, its in pretty good condition except for a little rip on the box.

Thank you for reading,

Jared

UPDATE: stop by my parents house this weekend, took some photos, added link to photos. I believe this toy was opened once, then never used because everything looks mint condition except the box and the back of the trailer is peeling a little bit, even all the add-ons and instructions/booklet are still in their original wrappers.

(Sorry it's not in order)

Going over Poflymn's checklist

1) Is it sealed? Is it genuine and not a fake?
-not sealed, can probably find some old christmas photos with it being on display with my dads other pepsi collectables, so yes it's real alright.
2) Are there any tears or rips in the packaging?
-small tear near the open part of the box, everything else looks good
3) Is the packaging faded, stained or mouldy?
-doesn't look like it, maybe a little faded
4) Is the insert tore, ripped or stained?
-the styrofoam is a little beat up
5) Is the figure in good condition? Any scratches, nicks, fading, rust on metal parts or paint wear?
-looks good, check picture link
6) Is the figure complete? All instructions, weapons and accessories included?
-everything sealed that could be and all items accounted for.
7) Are the accessories in good condition?
-still sealed

Is the box still sealed? That makes a big difference.

I'd be happy to sell it to you but I'm more or less doing research for now so they can get the best offer.

Re: How to sell a Canadian Pepsi Edition Optimus G1

To start you are going to need to assess its quality and completeness.

1) Is it sealed? Is it genuine and not a fake?
2) Are there any tears or rips in the packaging?
3) Is the packaging faded, stained or mouldy?
4) Is the insert tore, ripped or stained?
5) Is the figure in good condition? Any scratches, nicks, fading, rust on metal parts or paint wear?
6) Is the figure complete? All instructions, weapons and accessories included?
7) Are the accessories in good condition?

From there it will be easier to determine the actual value of the figure. One resource would be eBay listings both past and present where you can see what it is going for and what people are actually bidding on it.

For us to help you have to answer at least the questions above and provide pictures of the product. If sealed then pictures of all sides of the packaging; if unsealed then pictures of the packaging, insert, figure and accessories.

Is there an inventory list to find out if anything is missing?

Edit: Grammar

This website has a list of parts that would have been included in the G1 Optimus Prime set. The only difference with the Canadian Pepsi edition was that the trailer had a Pepsi sticker the entire length of the sides.
