Back to not going.

I have tried to make going to this con work, every time I seemed to find a solution another problem came up. I drew the line at sharing a bed with people of the opposite sex so I lost my chance there.
Even if I could afford $109 a night for a room, honestly I'd rather get some TF figures for that kind of money.

I only wished this con was in Toronto.
I don't know how much time I spend studying bus and train schedules and finding hostels, only to find that I might be spending an hour or more going back and forth and possibly spending more then if I had shared a room at the con.

But I'm really glad I discovered this con and hope things go better for me next year. Whatever the complications, this is still closer then botcon and doesn't require a plane ticket to get there.

I know how you feel, I knew about this convention for two years - and wasn't able to go. It was only on the third year that I finally made it - and I'm only an hour away! I can only imagine how tough it is for someone coming from out of country.

Once you finally make it, it's worth it. Hopefully you can make it next year. It just keeps getting bigger and better.

Sorry you can't make it, that's a shame. It's definitely not easy to travel all that way. There are both male and female attendees who look for roommates, but it's probably a little too late now. But there is always next year. Unfortunately, no location can be convenient for everyone and cost is always a factor. Good luck.

Yeah I tried on two forums before I found this place without getting any interest, I feel good knowing I tried instead of just letting it pass me by.

I'm in the same boat! I only live an hour away from it but every time I start to save something hits the fan and I end up screwed. I FULLY intend to make it to next years with plans to unveil the ultimate scratchbuild for the contest so I'm going to try saving yet again and hope for the best!!

One of these years I'll attend, perhaps not next year, but perhaps in 2013 or something. It is unfortunate not being able to go, but I really don't miss much. To be honest I've attended conventions the past two years in Winnipeg and I must say after about three hours of looking around at things there really isn't much to do.

It's great to hang out with fellow fans, but it can be a tad boring in certain respects. If I wasn't selling a few odds and ends from my collections I wouldn't hang around every day for the entire day.

I never liked large crowds very much. And being a guy I don't see a real problem with sharing a bed with someone of the opposite sex on a purely platonic level. But of course I think differently from most people. Platonic is the word I'm looking for here right?

EDIT: In retrospect, the woman would have to someone I knew and was comfortable around.
