Octone sounds like a musical transformer: octave + tone (maybe like Mic Sounders the 13th from GaoGaiGar?)

Probably more interesting that most of those repaints didn't happen untill well after Cybertron was done. The number without repaints was higher and I don't think anyone had more than 1 repaint?
Actually, looks like there isn't that many that haven't been re-repainted either.

I was more thinking about toys released domestically, released by Hasbro.

I think it's because Cybertron is pretty much the only large, decent quality line with a G1-ish aesthetic. Beast Wars was well, beasts, as was half of Beast Machines (with the other half being kinda freaky looking,) the RiD Autobots tended to be shellformers, the Armada figures were bricks and the Energon ones were severely hampered by the line-wide gimmicks.

Classics was too small to offer a lot of repaint fodder (although the moulds it did produce got a hell of a lot of use) and the movie lines and Animated have their own distinct aesthetic.

Mighty Muggs Optimus Prime has been repainted into Mighty Muggs Megatron, Mighty Muggs Bumblebee, Mighty Muggs Soundwave, Mighty Muggs Grimlock, Mighty Muggs Starscream, Mighty Muggs Jazz, Mighty Muggs Shockwave and even repaints from different licenses all together like G.I. Joe, Indiana Jones, Marvel Comics and Star Wars. They sure are getting their money's worth out of that Prime mold. It's Crazy.

I've always favored the Cybertron line. It offered a heck of a lot in just one line. Earth mode vehichles, distinctly alien alt modes, beast modes. Plus, the cyber key gimmick usually wasn't all that intrusive to the toy.

I'm kinda waiting for a Cybertron Optimus and Wing Saber repaint into ROTF Prime and Jetfire. I figured it would have popped us as an exclusive somewhere strange by now, even if Prime wasn't given his full fire truck-ish back pack and he was only the cab. I think that'd be pretty cool.

Diaclone is the most loved repainted line though. :P

G1? I was thinking all the seekers and several of the Autobot sport-like cars. Many repaints from what I can remember. Probably not the most of any line, but I think its up there somewhere.

The first few waves of G1 would totally count for being heavily re-painted, but after the Movie toys hit it seamed to stop.
