Sort of. For Transformers, the current sale is generic and only refers to the figure class, as with most Transformers sales. And since all the TRU SKNs for each class are the same (Generations/CW Voyager vs Deluxe vs Leader, etc...), they can be used on any future figure as well. Basically, you get the sale price without having to wait for the sale. The same sale will eventually happen though for future waves, but the rain checks will work. Might as well get some just in case you miss out on a future sale.

I find it interesting that the metrotown location in bc has sign at the cs desk that says no raichecks till after xmas. Anyone else come across this at any other locations?

I have never heard of any major stores posting something of this sort. Unless specifically stated in a flyer I am not sure that they can actually stick to this. A quick call or e-mail to head office should fix it.

Even though they still had some Wave 4 deluxe left in stock I told them they didnt have the ones in stock I was looking for, which is true. Now I have a raincheck for 5 Wave 5s at $11 a pop.

Thats a good trick. Might as well do it that way seeing as that's about as much as these guys are worth...

You'll also see that shortly after the sale that their stock of the figures has magically replenished. Pretty sure these sales are aimed at depleting in store stock prior to Christmas.
