Re: 9 haikus for 9 Masterpieces

Takara MP-17 Prowl

Bought Prime's right-hand 'bot
'cos Autobots outnumbered
grown to love this guy

Takara MP-12 Lambor
Had Countach poster
up on childhood bedroom wall.
Kid again. Thanks 'Swipe!

Both Prowl and Sideswipe were pretty much impulse buys, one right after the other. I tend to buy in sets so initially the lack of an MP Sunstreaker meant 'Swipe was a pass. But my Decepticon-heavy collection warranted some Autobot reinforcements so I took a chance with Prowl resigning to fact that Bluestreak and Smokescreen would obviously follow.

Prowl is fantastic in both modes, IMO the most 'toon accurate MP so far. Sideswipe did not disappoint either. In fact both surpass the low expecations set by the one and only MP Autobot car I owned (MP Rodimus, which I've since sold). They are great standalone toys that broke my trend of collecting in sets.

Re: jjwan's Masterpiece Haikus

Takara MP-10B Black Convoy

Optimus not whole
without an adversary
10B = "Galvatron"

After watching TF4: AOE two things stuck out in my mind.

1) I wanted those 2+ hours of my life back from Michael Bay
2) Galvatron as Megatron 'reborn' as a twisted version of Optimus was kinda cool.

For lack of a MP Megatron that scales well with MP10 I'll settle for MP-10B as the 'Con leader on my shelf.

(Though in the jjwanverse he's a product of Shockwave's machinations, who collected Megatron's remains and infused them into a cloned body of Prime in hopes of supplanting the newly crowned Emperor Starscream and replacing Optimus with plans of uniting the warring factions against the unstoppable threat of Unicron.)

As many have discovered MP-13B's red Megatron rifle and YOTH Prime's clear trailer really enhance the look of Birak Conboy.

Re: jjwan's Masterpiece Haikus

Got one for the Hasbro anniversary MP OP.

Solid as a boss,
Too bad he is not in scale.
Short smoke stacks are lame.

Nice!

Though I may argue every MP that followed the MP-1 mold (except for MP-5) was not in scale with him .

Re: jjwan's Masterpiece Haikus

XD So true.
Trying to imagine how other MP would look if they scaled with MP-1.

Re: jjwan's Masterpiece Haikus

IMO, if the Masterpiece line followed the scale and aesthetic of MP-1 we wouldn't be seeing the fantastically 'toon-accurate offerings we're seeing today.

To me MP-8 began the trend of "smaller but sexier". Grimmy's an overall win except for the scale issue which seemed to be reset by (the universally shitty) MP-9.

But no matter, Grimmy's got new shoes thanks to Scoria so now he appropriately towers over MP-10 as he should.
