Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

I figure it's the best option for Bruticus if and only if the set goes on sale. There are plenty in stores.

I just pre-ordered S.H. Figurart Kamen Rider Black, Battle Hopper, and Shadow Moon from Amazon.com. These 2 guys (plus the bike) were sold out on Amiami and HLJ in minutes. Amazon's prices on Bandai Tamashii figures are now very competitive with HLJ, plus trackable shipping.

Reading that review of Platinum Bruticus... who the heck cares about foil packaging? I sure don't. All the boxes get tossed or put away. Unless you're an MISB collector, what's the point? Just adds cost, IMO...

I really hope MP Wheeljack & Bumblebee don't sell out immediately on HLJ.

Agreed, it might be worth biting if it's on sale but not before. I find that Grimlock to be just garish...it's not even a good chrome gold, it's...yellow. I love my Takara version - more muted but still metallic, and the red waist adds to the G1 homage.

I find it interesting people say that about FOC Grimlock, but are really into Henkei. I never liked the random croming of parts in henkei anyway.

I think for most people it's not the fact that it's chromed, it's the pale yellow shade they used. It doesn't look like the chrome on G1 Grimlock at all.

^This

Also, I do agree that chroming everything isn't always good. I have passed up Takara versions of Generations/Henkei in the past because it was too much or because it didn't suit the figure. But sometimes it's done right and it works. I actually prefer a flatter metallic paint/colour (like metallic flakes) rather than full on chrome. I think it's done well on the such figures as the Takara Grimlock and Takara Senator Ratbat. Chrome also tends to flake off too easily...I picked up the Takara FOC Sideswipe as they used a chrome-like metallic paint - while it looked great, a whole bunch of it started to flake off once I transformed it.

The worse part is, if the chrome was poorly mixed and applied, it will decolour/oxidate on it own and generate black spots.

MP WJ and B are not even officially announced by takara yet. MP pre-order tends to stay on HLJ for a few days.

Figuart Kamen Rider Black and Shadow Moon were sold fast because (1) Black and its direct sequel Black RX were consider one the best KR series ever. It was dark and serious. Black and Shadow Moon are cult classic characters, and (2) they are version 2 reissue. People obviously don't want to the version 1 at crazy inflated prices from resellers.

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

I'm looking to establish an e-mail list for interested locals who would like to be kept apprised of some of the products I occasionally bring in.

I used to have a list, but no longer have access to it. If you're interested, please send me an e-mail with the subject "Subscribe" or a PM with your e-mail.

Notable items coming in include:

- Generations Sandstorm (voyager)
- Generations Metroplex (titan)
- Generations BB, Orion Pax, Megatron, & Trailcutter (deluxe)
- Prime BH Prowl (deluxe)

Items will be below local retail, and are often available weeks before local distribution.

Thanks, guys!
