Well, I did it. I am buying my most expensive toy to date
And it's not a Transformer of all things. Nope, it's the highly anticipated, if you are a fan of the series, 3A Metal Gear Rex. Just pre-ordered mine a few min ago. Cost is 490usd and shipping not yet determined. It's expensive but I think it will be worth it. I've always loved the Rex since MGS1 and loved piloting the Rex in MGS4. Still awhiles away before release but i'm pretty excited. It has made me consider selling off toys I no longer really care for anymore though. Gotta make room for this big ass tank. Got 6 months to do it. That said I decided the Rex is my "white whale" and I put money aside for it.

So, what's your biggest expensive toy?

Re: Well, I did it. I am buying my most expensive toy to date
The thing I like most about this figure is the size, it aint small. If it was under 10in tall i'd say no but almost 20in tall and over 2ft long with Railgun, damn!!
It will give Fort Max a run for the money being 3inches smaller. Plus lightup sound FX for the railgun too and a mini Solid Snake figure (main guy for the MGS games)
I know more people put more $$$ into the Devestators that have recently been released, I myself as tempted could not do it because 3rd party stuff kinda scares me for fragile. This though, the asian dude holind the Rex was the original game designer for the Rex and the artist who owns this company works on the art FOR the MGS series so it's all licenced and high-quality products from 3A. I kinda feel more secured about paying much more for hopefully something that wont fall apart. I respect what 3rd party TF guys are doing, my concerns are probably a bit more concered than I need to be. This though, I can't wait for the REX! September cant come quick enough

Re: Well, I did it. I am buying my most expensive toy to date
This is a great collection piece for sure. Even though some Japanese sites were selling this thing for $420, I couldn't justify it since I am not a huge video game fan (even though I did quite enjoy MGS). Also, I have no room for it. It would have to sit in the corner.
I personally find far more joy in the higher end toys than the cheaper stuff. Which is why I have mostly abandoned all TFS that aren't Masterpiece.

What a beautiful beast! Would love to have one for myself even though I'm not a die hard fan of the series

Re: Well, I did it. I am buying my most expensive toy to date
I have just over a year to save up for mine. Almost 4 feet long, A foot and a half wide, and a smidgen under a foot tall, this thing apparently weighs 32 pounds.

This will be the greatest thing I own and I have nowhere to put it lol.

Re: Well, I did it. I am buying my most expensive toy to date
I paid in full from the 3A toy's Hong Kong store preorder (Bambalandstore.com). $495 USD shipped. Dunno why you guys are willing to pay extra from other resellers...
The direct preorder from them sold out in about 24 hours I believe. Maybe they'll do a Metal Gear Ray, to match the Rex.

Re: Well, I did it. I am buying my most expensive toy to date
Most I spent on a single toy was something like $480 shipped for the G1 Victory Saber giftset. Most for a newly released toy was close to $400 after shipping and customs for the new Yamato SDF-1 I think.
