Gauging interest

Hey guys! When the 1st Transformers movie came out I was still pretty new to collecting and had in my head that I needed to buy everything that came out. I bought pretty much all the movieverse stuff, scouts, deluxes, voyagers. Then as the repaints came out I slowly began to slow down on my buying. Then as the other movies followed I was alot more selective about what I bought. So fast forward to today, I stand in my room with my Transformer collection and I need more space, so I am looking to the Movieverse and maybe some Animated stuff that I have no attatchment to and I am considering selling.

My question to you guys is do you think there might be some sort of market to unload these Transformers? I know I will not get back what I spent. What do you think? Let me know.

Good luck with the movies stuffs but you may have a market for some SPECIFIC movie figures. The market for Animated figures is probably bigger than movie.

Tough market for movie figs, especially loose. MIB would sell better and MISB would likely even recover most of what was spent.

Animated is a tough-ish too, which is a shame as they're amazing toys.

I agree with mcmus. Check where the market is at with a few of the "standout" movie figures and consider selling them individually. I'd suggest selling the rest as a giant lot at a discount just to get rid of them, unless time isn't an issue for you and you have an abundance of patience to sell individually on kijiji, etc. There are resellers who will buy lots like this but just don't expect to make any money. As you know, this stuff was mass produced and once the movies become a memory there seems to be little to no interest in the related toys. Animated might be a different story so I would go the route of selling them individually, since people seem to still appreciate this line.

Re: Gauging interest

I was kinda thinking with the new movie toys being released soon that it might spark some interest in the older stuff? Maybe?

Nope. Everyone tries to unload movie figures, few are successful.

Re: Gauging interest

Just post the toys you have for sale in the ForSale thread in the forums and people will buy what they need.

Just be reasonable on the prices, as there are many sellers with high prices that will never sell their stuff...

It helps to have pictures to accompany the listings...

Re: Gauging interest

Leaders are the only retail movie figures selling well.

Re: Gauging interest

I have been selling for years and loose complete Movie figures are impossible.

The biggest problem is they always "outdid" the last one. If you have a 2007 Deluxe NEW Camaro Bee. It out outdone by the Premium.... then the ROTF preview.... then the battle blade.... then you then all those other BETTER scaled ones.

And that's just Bumblebee

Sure you can sell your Deluxe to a kid for 5 bucks with a frugal parent, but that's that.
