Re: (SPOILERS ALLOWED) Transformers RoTF Your Reviews

I am very grateful for this film being made. I am not a big fan of the ROTF toys or All Spark story (saw it already in G1 comics hahahah) but I still love big shiny robots. They killed Prime which shocked me still. They combined Prime which was kewl - must have been Hasbro's input. hahaha
*****
However, with the many plot holes, too many characters with little to no development, an odd spiritual sequence, and perhaps even too much potty humor and that tired old Shia and Megan story line - this will be a hard sell to non-TF fans.
I rolled my eyes at many scenes.

Oh, it will still be a top watched film but that doesn't say much.

it wins for special effects, not story.

5/5 for fans and non-fans (whatever that means) may not get it or be so forgivable.

but your bet yer damn tail pipe that I will doing the IMAX for it still hahahahaha

YES. That was my biggest problem, he needs to get his hand out of his pants when anything military related is going on, HELLO BIG ROBOTS THROWING DOWN, who cares about a random F-22 that is taking off, Starscream is going to cut to pieces ANYHOW.

Re: (SPOILERS ALLOWED) Transformers RoTF Your Reviews

Decent movie, need to think more but mixed feelings overall. Great action overall, better then the first movie in this regard for sure. Also liked the fact that it was more robot oriented then human oriented unlike the first film. Story's pretty much a mess though, that and it's way to long, should have been at least 45 minutes shorter which would have made it A LOT better in my opinion. Overall the first hour and a half was awesome, after that I really stopped caring and the end was really confusing especially after sitting through so much mindless drivel to get to the final battle.

Re: (SPOILERS ALLOWED) Transformers RoTF Your Reviews

amazing... really happy. Only disappointment was a few scenes that showed so much, got to the climax... then cut out suddenly.. Ie, Devastator combining.

Interesting to see the reasoning for no bot modes in the Supreme Dev. I bet Hasbro had to make up a story so they didn't spoil the movie

I don't think the plot was meant to make any sense. It's like saying I watch porn for the compelling stories. The focus of the plot changed every 10 minutes, to the point where you have no choice but the say "F#$& it! Just show me robots beating on each other."And except for the the Prime Gang Bang, none of the action was really that spectacular. The CG was great, that shit must have cost a fortune, but the editing and framing of the action seemed lost. If you kick a guy in the nuts enough times, he'll forget that you took his lunch money too.

Re: (SPOILERS ALLOWED) Transformers RoTF Your Reviews

I came in expecting a quintessential summer flick, and I'm happy to say I got what I paid for. The cinematic canvas Michael Bay worked with was so much more grandeur and epic in scope. This is something I personally wasn't prepared for even after having read spoilers and the comic adaptations. It felt I was watching an event.
There's little I can fault the film in terms of presentation. It is a visual cgi orgasm. The things that did bother me lay in the story itself. I couldn't really get behind The Fallen. I felt the parallels drawn between his character and Megatron with that of the Emperor and Vader from Star Wars was extremely lazy writing. It may have been better to introduce characters like Primus or Unicron instead of making someone up entirely. Another aspect of the story which puzzled me was Optimus' role. I'm not entirely certain why a Prime is the only being powerful enough to take down The Fallen. It seems as if you volley enough missles at the enemy, they'll go down, no matter who it is. The military has got a rail gun. Why not just use that to blow up the Harvester. Sam and BB seemed to have an underlying story that really didn't seem to go anywhere. Sam's purpose was to save Optimus, and BB protected Sam, but I don't think thier roles evolved much from the first film. I think there was much more to be told, but didn't make it in for whatever reason.
Story reasons aside, I still greatly enjoyed the film. This sequel did feel like a continuation of the first. The Autobots teaming up with the humans and forming NEST makes sense. Sam's relationship hiccups with Mikaela seemed believable to me. Most importantly, the returning characters were really fun to watch. I enjoyed it all, especially the key fight sequences.
Two years from now, I'll be stoked for another film, but until then I'm going to enjoy this film again.
