Re: Fan Expo Toronto 2013
I'm pretty angry with the fact that even Anime voice actors are charging for autographs now. There is absolutely NO REASON to see them at FanExpo now, not when I can go to Anime North and see them for free.
So pissed…if it weren't for the fact that press badges/exhibitor badges were an option for me, I'd be skipping this year all together.
FanExpo…more like FanExtortion.
On a lighter note…at least Jeffry Combs is reasonably priced. 20$ is what I'd wanna pay to see someone like Combs, so if I do get confirmed for a badge I'll be seeing only him.

Re: Fan Expo Toronto 2013
I haven't been to FanExpo since 2010. I swore off it forever and I don't miss it one bit. Save money, use it for something more worth while. Plus I don't want to support something owned by Rogers. My con 2013 and 2014 seasons is:
Anime North
Niagara Falls Comic Con
TFcon
Though we will be checking out Hammertown Comic Con.

Oh man. I'm almost considering going just to get Richard Dean Anderson's autograph on my Stargate boxset...

Re: Fan Expo Toronto 2013
Prices look nuts. I'd never go if I was in Toronto.
But James Hong is a guy I'd love to meet. Lo Pan himself damn it!
I'd recall ever seeing him on a Con guest list before.
Edit: How does one tell what is a regular item & what is a premium item for the sports celebrities?
Is it really harder for them to sign a jersey(I presume the bulky item) than a picture?
The sports wing sounds like a complete joke, but then I seem to recall Gordie Howe having money trouble so I hope he does well. The athletes who made millions upon millions of dollars playing, bah, losers.

I hear you, i haven't went in a couple of years but i remember going one year when the guys from udon that wrote the street fighter comics were there. they basically signed all the street fighter comics that were out at the time for me, all including all the extra covers! those were good times!

Re: Fan Expo Toronto 2013
Last year I couldn't go because of work so I didn't buy advance tickets.
But I got off work early on the Sat and headed down - I just wanted to do some shopping.
Waited in line in that horrible, horrible car access to the parking garage that they use for a line up with massive pressing crowds, poor ventillation, and on hard concrete on an angle. (the previous year a kid was almost trampled and people were fainting.)
Got the the front of the line after 3 hours wait. I was about 10 people from the front and they closed it down - no more admissions. They turned away several thousand people who were still in line, including many in elaborate costumes.
What really angers me is that they should have know way in advance, as they were letting people in, that if they only had capacity for X more people that there was no way that X+3000 were getting in and let us line up for hours.
In general the show is poorly run, overcrowded, mismanaged, overpriced, etc.
And who thought it would be a good idea to add sports to a comic con?
(What happened to Wizard world toronto? I went like 2 years ago and it was waaayyy better than Fan expo.)

Re: Fan Expo Toronto 2013
Hmph. Yeah, you just reminded my again why I hate Fan Expo. I was actually considering going down there with a buddy for the weekend. Now I'm just going to skip it. No way I'm wasting that kind of time, effort, and money just so I can have the privileged of walking around a hot, sweaty, over-crowded, over-priced dealer room all weekend. No thanks!
