Re: ToysRUs.ca Transformers Sightings and discussion

Some incorrect information in the article. The 'new' Lawrence and Allen location in Toronto already exists and is the result of the old Yonge and Eglinton location closing. The new location is smaller and does not have good selection at all.

Edit: TRU may be looking to get a bigger location within the mall so I might be partially wrong. Regardless, I'm not convinced that TRU is doing well. I sincerely hope I'm wrong. Less competition is not good for prices.

HOT DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will have a TRU 5 minutes away from me this summer???

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I can NOT go to a TRU much closer to me.

Ok seriously though it is a nice sign for the chain. And considering they "seem" to have learned their lesson on pricing with the recent drops for most 6" lines to what other retailers are charging, I may have to start making trips out to them again more regularly.

The only place on Strandherd, at that address, that would hold a TRU is the Bed, Bath & Beyond that just closed up, so I guess that is where it is going.

Is that where the old Zellers used to be?

I remember hitting up that location in the final days of Zellers and getting some great deals on toys.

I do miss the sheer number of stores in Toronto, but I have done pretty well up here in Ottawa since moving.

That old Zellers is now a Marshalls and Homesense.

The TRU is in a much smaller location at Lawrence Square; it was likely a clothing store or something similar prior to TRU showing up. It's the smallest TRU I've seen in the GTA.

To me it feels like TRU is trying to inflate their value for some reason. Maybe you make more when you bankrupt with more? It is the only way to explain why they now cost more than mom and pop shops on everything and by a lot.

oh hey I was able to order the SS44 reissue, but now looking at the page it says it isn't home delivery anymore. Will I still get it delivered to me?

If you successfully placed an order for home delivery you should get it. You probably just purchased one of the last few units available at the warehouse.

Re: ToysRUs.ca Transformers Sightings and discussion

A related case happened to me recently with the BOGO 40% off sale two weeks ago. I place an online order for home delivery and after some days, I get an e-mail stating they didn't have the Creatures Collide pack in warehouse. Other than cancelling the payment, they offered me to buy the same pack with the same reduction post sale if I found it in stores, which I did (the aisle was packed with TFs, too). Oh, and they offered me an additional 10% off coupon for my next purchase for the hassle (though valid for one month).

Even though all worked out in the end, I can only imagine someone in this situation not having a physical store nearby...

And for those who care, if an order is being "processed" at TRU, you can't make any modification to it (adding another TF in the same package for instance).

Not for everyone, unfortunately

The TRU website says it's available and lets me put it in my cart, then tells me it can't be delivered to my location when I go to check out. The other item in my cart doesn't get this notice, and I've had online TRU orders delivered to the same address before. Has anyone experienced this? Maybe Origins Jazz is in a really remote warehouse somewhere?
