Re: The Montreal/Quebec Local Fans Banter Thread

I can say that I had an amazing time at Retro Expo as well. The last 'mini con' i've been to was the little Toycon near the IKEA and Me and my father were pleasantly surprised at the prices and how many dealers there was.
Went in with 40$, came out with a ton of TFA stuff (mostly from one dealer, whoever you are dealer who had TFA grimlock and the gang, I should of bought an activators bumblebee from you.) and some Monster Hunter stuff for my sibling.

Looking forward to High Score Con as im skipping out on the big two cons here because it's just not worth it if you're in for only dealers.

So I'm sure there's some Battle Beasts fans in here, I know Protoman has a collection.

Rise of the Beasts is having a kickstarter for their next four molds. One of them is an Ant in insecticon colours! One of the stretch goal would be a G1 Scorponok and Beast Wars Rhinox hommage pair...

I got a bunch of their figs and they're really cool and easy to customize.

Re: The Montreal/Quebec Local Fans Banter Thread

I LOOOOVE the original Battle Beasts. I have almost a full set of the domestic releases.

But these guys don't feel right to me. The style is off... it's like they changed everything that made the Battle Beasts neat or distinctive for me.

These guys feel more like semi-realistic musclemen with lycanthrope heads, wearing ornamental armour. The real Beasts were stylized cyborg animals, who were almost as wide as they were tall. They were fierce, unique, highly-detailed, and kind of cute, all at the same time.

This is the main reason I didn't get into any of the other attempts to revive the Battle Beasts in recent years... none of the contenders got the 'feeling' or the aesthetic right.

Takara got it mostly right with their revival line a couple years ago, Beast Saga... but unfortunately they didn't catch on in Japan, and they never did a second wave.

I really wish Hasbro had jumped on that and did a domestic release... maybe they would have done better in North America and allowed the line to continue (the same way Transformers did).

That reminds me... How's that fancy series of war vehicles turning into mechs called again? I remember A3U selling them. Is it dead?

...Transformers.
