Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

Hi guys! Odd for me to post in the BC thread as a Quebecer, but I'm in Vancouver for a few days (leaving Sunday morning), so your help would be greatly appreciated.

Would you guys be able to point me towards some of the better geek stores around? Not really looking for TFs, but hoping to find other hobby stuff (Gundams, manga, comics, etc, but also things like Japanese import toys, books and magazines).

I'm staying downtown (corner of Burnaby and Berrard) and don't have a car, but I've walked all the way to the east end of Chinatown without issues. I'm also going to head to Richmond tomorrow, and likely in Saturday as well, so I'll be in that vicinity too.

Would you guys have recommendations of places to hit up? I've already passed by Golden Age Collectibles (on Granville) and One Stop Shop Cards (in that mall on W Pender); both were pretty cool.

Thanks!

If you're going to be in Richmond, check out Imperial Hobbies. Also in Richmond, check out Aberdeen mall. It's an asian mall and they have some neat hobby stores there as well as the Gashapon shop by the food court.

If you can make it out to Burnaby, go to Metropolis comics across from Metrotown and Ages 3 and Up at Lougheed town center.

For anime and Japanese imports, stop by at JHobby in Richmond. Address:

Pacific Plaza
#1320-8888 Odlin Cresent
Richmond, British Columbia

Their on the outer side of the mall/complex, on the north side.

If you can make it out, go to Toy Traders in Langley. Their dioramas are worth the visit alone. They have two buildings, the main Toy Traders store, and across the parking lot, Game Stars, which has their vintage items, and a lot of anime figures and stuff.

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

Venksta and SleeplessKnight, thanks a lot for the recommendations. The help is very much appreciated.

I'll definitely check the places in Richmond out; they all seem to be relatively in the same area, especially convenient since my wife wanted to go to Aberdeen mall anyways.

On the flipside, I don't think I'll be making it that far east in Burnaby, so I don't think I'll be going to check out A3U/USH, unfortunately.

Damn, I recycled my box already. But just holding up the tape measure to your dimensions I'm guessing you're talking about the shipping box it'll come in, not the funky purple display box?

You may get a quicker response if you asked the question here as it seems some Easterners are getting their on-line orders delivered now.

There is Sakura Media at Metropolis, and there is a store in Crystal Mall that sells gundam pretty cheap too.

That's a shame about missing the Burnaby stores. They're on the skytrain line, if that's worth mentioning.

Definitely try and hit up Toy Traders sometime in your life. Not much else compares.
