Movie Big Daddy review

Hey guys. Finally got that Movie Big Daddy in the mail today. Here's a small breakdown/review for those interested in getting this very nice redeco of Cybertron Downshift.

Vehicle Mode: The black paint job on this guy is amazing. Black plastic fits this mold lperfectly, and the flame deco is very much reminiscent of the original's. Most of the trimming is a medium silver, as is the movie version of the Autobot symbol on the vehicle's hood. Light smokey grey is used for the windows. I've transformed Big Daddy a couple times now and everything still tucks and fits nicely back into place as with the Downshift release, so if there's mold degradation it's totally negligible.

Robot Mode: Nice and tight joints everywhere. Nothing loose whatsoever. The robot mode shows a lot more color in the form of "safety" neon orange. Paint deco is somewhat different for Cybertron Downshift's, enough to be familiar yet pleasantly different and unique (there's just so much you can do with paint aps anyways) with silver added to the upper arms and feet. Eyes are painted silver and the faceplate violet/purple. The light colored plastic used for the windows does wonders to help forget the flaps coming out of the sides of the robot mode's head, which is a good thing and makes it look like they remolded it to remove said flaps.

Accessories: The cyber Key packaged along with Big Daddy is different than the one pictured on the card back. It's a clear red 'Cybertron' key instead of the 'Matrix' one shown. Launchers are still fully functional and work fine.

All in all, whether you're a fan of the mold, just
like the idea of having a robot in your collection called Big Daddy or are looking to bolster the ranks of your Classics Autobot, this figure is a must.

Re: Movie Big Daddy review

I liked the original and like this one except the solid orange colour of the legs, missiles, etc. is a turn-off for me. Will I buy it? Probably not, Hasbro has gone a little repaint overkill for me in trying to profit of the movie success (that they obviously hadn't forcasted to the extent it became).

Re: Movie Big Daddy review

Someone should make an Allspark Powered movie with him and his crew of robots to give all of these repaints some real street cred.

Re: Movie Big Daddy review

I might get it after all. Too bad it's not sporting the Allspark blue paint apps (at least on the legs and forearms in robot mode). Nice haul man! I take it you got it from FC Toys? Or that other seller from China?

Since it's part of a main line Wal-Mart Canada may take it. And they have taken other movie line Wal-Mart exclusives. So maybe, but I'm not optimistic.
