Hey Kristal,

Hope you are having fun exploring ShelfLife. Just for the record the Beta is no longer closed, but we're still very much in our testing mode as we are releasing new functionality and upgrades to the site all the time. The next big release is our launch of the e-commerce buy/sell platform in late April, and then you guys can expect regular upgrades throughout the summer as we start to truly realize our grand vision for the site.

Please stay in touch with your feedback and questions...we love user input.

ok, so if I have stuff listed as have when marketplace goes live, it's available for sale? Or is it only stuff marked sell?

Hey Bryce,

So Haves will be capable of being easily converted into sales once the SL marketplace goes live. For reasons of practicality and information density Haves cannot be converted into Sales automatically.

Core to the difference between a Have and a Sale will be the following:

-Presence of at least one photo of your product
- Confirmation of shipping rules (controllable both at the account level and adjustable at the level of each sale)
- A target price

If you think about what it takes to sell on something like Ebay and cut that down by 2/3 based on the curated product information already available to form the spine of your sale, you're getting close to what selling on SL will be like.

We're looking at the option of launching the sale tools before the marketplace opens, since having at least one product for sale on day one would be a solid idea, lol. More on that shortly.

Since this is being lauded as a collectors alternative to Ebay or whatever other sales site - I'm assuming there will be tools/options for people to list multiple items in a single sale?

I'll assume you are asking whether we will support lots? The short answer is: yes. The long answer is rather more complicated. In a system like SL where everything is based around a product hierarchy a lot with a bunch of random stuff in it becomes nearly impossible to match to a single buyer. So we'll be taking our time sorting out the best way to handle that, and in all likelihood it will launch mid-summer with sellers having the flexible ability to have a lot and all of it's constituent components sold simultaneously, with the sale of any one piece requiring a repricing or removal of the lot sale.

As you can see there is lots to consider here, but we look forward to providing sexy tech on this stuff.

p.s. First things first, with the marketplace launch about 5 weeks away now would be a very good time to get more of your collections in the system so that you are all set to sell come game day!

Cheers!

J
