Just got a Animated Grimlock (not very happy)
Anyone else have this figure and the first thing they noticed when in Dino mode is you can see his Robot face clear as day, it almost seems like they forgot to finish his chest area in dino mode. not very happy at all with this fig, and the arms in robot mode just look stupid.
I was hoping they would make a Leader class but if this is the quality then maybe they shouldn't.

I know, that was a strange design decision. Would have been so easy to include an additional flap to close that gap.

Re: Just got a Animated Grimlock (not very happy)
I saw a custom on TFW where they made a little flap to cover that area. Looked 100 times better.

Found the link.

Yeah, that's definitely a wierd problem. Sometimes I wonder how these designs get approved, because a problem like that is really silly.
At any rate, there have been tonnes of reviews and comments regarding Grimlock's problem in alt mode, so the info was out there.

When I ghet mine, maybe I'll try to pose Lugnut punching him in that area, to cover the protruding head....

Re: Just got a Animated Grimlock (not very happy)
Well, given how the dino head has to snap in deep against the back, that must be why. If there was a panel there it would be in the way. The whole area would need to be designed, unless you don't mind having the dino just floating on the back like on the G1 version (looking at the custom on Ebay, you see that the head cannot click into place anymore in robot mode). Another solution would be to integrate covering panels to the side panels (where the dino arms are), but doing so would prevent the dino arms from being able to be folded inside (again, much like the G1 version).

Re: Just got a Animated Grimlock (not very happy)
The minor issue with his head being exposed if you look underneath his dino mode really doesnt bother me much, especially considering an otherwise fantastic figure, imo.

Re: Just got a Animated Grimlock (not very happy)
The head doesn't bother me as much as his sideway knees. It really limits his posability. Other than that, it's still one of the better animated toys.
