Re: Pacific Rim
I just saw this... I like it, it had the campiness that was missing from Superman and it was just plain delight for my eyes and ears! This was the Big Ass Robot vs. Monster movie I've been waiting all my life for It brought back those great child hood memories of watching Godzilla vs. flics and Force Five cartoons!
SPOILERS....

I just wish the bots had more super moves and unique abilities. Also homages to Go Nagai animes would have been sweet.
P.S. Does anything else show up after the end credits? Aside from Hellboy erupting from the baby carcass?

Re: Pacific Rim
When I'm really anticipating a movie, I like to go in as fresh as possible. Checking out the trailer posted in the OP, it gives away too much for my liking. Trailers nowadays. No surprise there.
You should see the trailer for Prisoners that comes out sometime in September, it gives away like 70% of the movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpXfcTF6iVk
Anyways, the movie is freaking awesome!!!!!!!! How I would describe it is, you walk into as a child and walk out a man. Freaking badass and awesome. Some ppl in the audience couldn't handle it when the big robots starting fighting and were freaking out at every moment lol.
And I love the idea of a Japanese genre made for an American audience, but through the eyes of a Spanish guy.

Re: Pacific Rim
Funny on Satureday night some initally reported Cory Monteith was found dead alone at a Vancouver theatre playing the movie Pacific Rim, when in fact he was found dead alone in his suite at the Vancouver hotal Fairmont Pacific Rim.
Another one bites the dust.
Also how the hell did Grown Up 2 made more money at the box office than Pacific Rim? I'd rather watch Sharknado than Grown Up 2.

Re: Pacific Rim
Sequel Please.
One of the few movies in a while that actually delivered on what it promised.

What is a SuperTicket? Is that the motion seat thing?
Speaking of which, we were sitting at the very back of the theatre with 3 rows of the motion seats in-front of us and during all the action scenes it was kinda funny seeing all people swaying back and forth, it was like some sort of pseudo 3D effect as if the audience were the people running away from the monsters screaming Gojira!!!!

Re: Pacific Rim
I just saw it. And I LOVED it!! But it does make me wish 2 things:
1. That the Transformers movies were half this good.
2. That they'd make a Robotech/Macross movie already! Seriously, you take Transformers + Pacific Rim = Robotech. I think audiences are ready for it. Make it happen, Hollywood!
SPOILER!!
Also, I wish Idris Elba didn't die. I loved him in GI Joe and I loved him in this too.

Re: Pacific Rim
Forgot to report in after seeing it on Saturday (damn all you can eat Japanese).
Anyway.....
As I told my buddy, it was exactly what a summer blockbuster should be!!!!!!
A serviceable story without any glaring plot holes, or something so ridiculous that it takes you out of the experience for a minute.
Action was EXACTLY what a giant robot vs. giant monster movie should have. It was just great watching the amount of destruction and the fights were done in a way that you could actually follow the fight without a lot of "clutter" on the screen making it difficult to follow. (PAY ATTENTION MICHAEL BAY, THIS IS HOW YOU FILM A ROBOT FIGHT SCENE SO PEOPLE CAN ACTUALLY FOLLOW IT).
Also I think Del Toro did an admirable job of not too much cheese, and a wink or two here and there for the cheap, but predictable laugh.
As an aside, I also like when a director/actor/performer, whatever, takes on a project that isn't exactly in his/her wheelhouse. It is usually those kind of projects that really show the difference between someone who multi-talented and someone who can't really do something outside of their "genre".
