Masterpiece Knockoffs?

Hey folks,

Thinking about buying a Masterpiece figure or two via eBay. Just wondering if there's a chance I would be getting a near-identical knockoff.

I haven't heard of MP's being KO'd yet, but just wanted to hear it from you guys.

Any Knock-Off MP's I could easily be deceived with available yet?

I think I saw some MP knock offs for Prime but none of them look anything like him in colour or size....

Re: Masterpiece Knockoffs?

Thanks, at least that makes me breathe easier when dunking $140 on MP-03 Starscream. :P

It's supposedly going to be shipped from overseas, so I wanted to make sure there are not KO's currently available.

Now if only MP Optimus w/ trailer would come down in price...

Everything is made in china, even the authentic ones. It's most likely that they just grabbed the extra ones that was not ordered by hasbro. However, if it is KO, it's the first time i've heard of one.

I have seen KO Alternators/Binaltechs on eBay but I have not come across a KO MP, yet

Re: Masterpiece Knockoffs?

I'd be more worried about the packaging of the MP.

My MP-02 Ultra Magnus costed $30 for shipping from Japan, but the guy just wrapped it in lots of bubble wrap. I'm sorta ticked, I would have spent $10 more, but I really don't think it costs $30 US for 2 metres worth of bubble wrap and shipping trom Japan to Canada for that. My MP-02 box came in with some dents and white marks...

This doesn't matter if you're not picky about the box condition though.

Argh... true, I AM picky about the MP packaging. I'm an MIB collector, so the condition of the box is almost as important as the condition of the toy itself.

I guess I'll have to make it clear to the seller that he must package it safely for shipping.

I wish I could still order it from Canadian online stores like KoolToyz.ca or AgesThreeandUp. I would trust their packaging. Alas... I got into the MP scene a couple years too late. :'(
