Everything's open? News to me, it's only essentials that are open these days.

I guess it depends on the province. I don't believe the ones in Ontario are open unless it is for online pick-ups. I could be wrong though since I haven't driven to one in 2 months.

It's all provincial, and after that, up to the business. Alberta is allowing some retail and services to open up today. Many restaurants and salons/barbers are not doing so because the guidelines and expectations do not make sense or make people feel at all safe. Hell, I'm not about to go hit up a restaurant or cafe anytime soon.

Alberta has already clarified schools will not reopen this year, we will continue emergency remote learning til the end of the school year and hopefully in September we will have kids back. I've seen some of the rules QC schools have to follow, it's insane and honestly, most of what QC seems to be doing seems way too fast. Ontario and other provinces have announced different reopening schedules.

Have had little previously where I would praise him, but Doug Ford has done a great job during this pandemic. One of the best things he has said is that the reopening plans "are a road map, not a calendar." If things start to spike, expect big clampdowns again.

So your city's TRU might be open. Or it might not. That's entirely up to the regulations of your province and perhaps even the TRU store individually.

I think May 19 is the date here in BC for “phase 2” of re-opening business. Apparently beaches were packed yesterday and they’re talking about school opening in June. Opening TrU doesn’t sound terrible when compared to hundreds of kids in a small space and idiots having a beach party

Yeah, I saw some pictures. School is a bit different. Doesn't sound like all districts are going back fully. I would prefer school waits to fall, especially the youngers. Just try keeping second graders six feet apart and not wiping their nose or touching their face.

No I totally agree. I don't see the risk reward of sending them back for the last month as opposed to waiting for sept. I have a grade 1 and I'm pretty sure she won't be able to resist playing with her friends during recess.

Mine are kinder and third grade. I'm a jr high teacher. I feel for my elementary colleagues because for the younger kids it IS the socialization and hands-on learning. That is much harder to do at home. My students and high school students are simply more capable of self-starting and working independently on assignments. It's a mess, and I feel like I'm doing twice the work even as I try to manage a reasonable amount of work expected for students. Elementary needs more teacher support and is less "product" based as it is... The kids just want to see their friends.
