007 Quantum of Solace... Casino Royale was much better
Just got back from it with my wife - to be honest, we both didn't leave as satisfied or as "wowed" as we did from Casino Royale.
For starters, the plot with the villain felt very superficial and didn't feel like the went too deep into it.
Secondly, (i'll probably get flamed for this) but after Casino Royale's more colder, serious and quieter Bond, I felt there was too much action in this one and lesser concentration on plot development and character development. There were some great scenes that portrayed the emotional side of Bond, however.. like it's hard to put into words.. but something was missing.
And continuing with the "too much action" ramble, I felt that Bond was too 'superhuman' in this one... in Casino Royale, you can see him in pain, you can see the scars still on him a day or 2 after getting **** blown up in his face - but in this one, he's like Terminator - gets a beating or gets **** blown up on him, yet like Ahnald he gets up and walks around as if nothing happened. I felt the 'human-ness' of Bond was traded in from Casino Royal with 'meta-human-ness'
It was an enjoyable film, but to be honest, it lacked some soul and by far, Casino Royale was much much better.
If CR was a 9/10, this would rate a 7/10 IMO.
