Easy way to fix MP09-B broken knees

My MP09-B has a broken knee right out of the box, I found a easy and secure way to fix it.

1) Glue the broken knee back. Don't forget to take out that little black rectangle box which caused all these issues.

2) Just cut a gasket using yogurt box, like my picture below. I choose yogurt box because it's easy to find, good quality, hard and very thin.

3) file the knees a little, prefer the same thickness as the gasket.

4) Glue the gasket with the injured knee.

5) Put it back. As you can see, the gasket is thin enough that it's hardly noticeable.

6) Now it's secure enough to transform without worry the knees. If you are not too sure, you can add another gasket at the other side of the knees, double insurance. For me, one is good enough.

Love it!

Plus it's easy and cheap to do.

I found an even easier fix... keep it MISB

J/K does this also affect regular MP10?

Do you mean regular MP-09? MP-10 is the Optimus

Great idea for a fix. I still haven't decided which way to fix mine.

Has anyone that opened their 9B actually come out not plagued by the poor plastic quality?

When I opened the box, my MP09B knees were great, no issue.
Then I turned it around to inspect the other side, and at that moment, one leg broke.

So unless it was in MISB state, hold by the plastic wrap, otherwise any time it might break.

From what I read, the regular MP09 (Hasbro) version doesn't have knee issue, but has arm issue, which breaks very often even in box.

Re: Easy way to fix MP09-B broken knees

Thanks for sharing. Currently I handle my Hasbro Rodimus like he's made of nitro glycerin with the awareness of all the problems associated with the mold.

Owning MP Rodimus is quite bittersweet, IMO. I remember coveting both G1 Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime from the Woodward's display window in 1986. Finally scored a Henkei Rodimus and FP Protector Trailer Armor a few years ago but sold them off with my CHUG lot to focus on MPs and G1s. Scored a MISB Hasbro Rodimus and a Takara trailer recently but made the mistake of taking him out of the box. After one conversion I spotted stress marks on the left shoulder joint. So there he sleeps, at the bottom of a large Tupperware bin in space Winnebago mode, never to be touched by human hands again.

Re: Easy way to fix MP09-B broken knees

Too bad this doesn't seem like it would help ankles. I had gotten two MP Roddy's from another board member as part of a lot for $60. One with a couple of missing parts and a broken leg and the other was complete.

Sadly, I did the exact same thing many people here did and dared to remove the figure from the packaging and transform him. The joint on his ankle ended up snapping and i could not get it to hold strongly enough to properly repair it. Ended up donating the figure to my brother so that he could replace the broken knees on his own.
