Re: Transformers Animated 3 Minute Preview Video from Cartoon Network

The quality of animation in the clip is unremarkable. Hopefully, this doesn't reflect the sensibilities of the entire series. The simplified character designs make it difficult for myself to believe that these are giant robots, but it could still grow on me.
Some quick observations. Bumblebee is the new Rattrap. Somebody should be fired for Optimus' mouth design. Teletran 1 is back and apparantly a bureaucrat. Tom Kenny apparently can channel the spirit of Chris Latta. Did Megs allow himself to be blown up?
As an older fan, I'm still not sold on this new series, but it may strike a chord with a younger crowd.

It looked very G1ish which is good. Teletran, the Ark etc. Still don't like the animation. Prime and Screamers voices were good, Bumblebee's was awful.........(HIGH PITCHED SQUEEL) We're not programmed for this, we're repair bots!" Looked to me like Megatron was going to kill them and all bumblebee wanted to do was whine.................I'll watch it when it hits TV in late December or early January but it has a ways to go to impress me.

Wow...the writers seemingly punked out Megs in the first episode. I'm interested in how this turns out. Hopefully it won't suck.

Re: Transformers Animated 3 Minute Preview Video from Cartoon Network

The biggest highlights for me were the return of the G1 transformation sound, Starscream's voice easily being the best homage to Chris Latta's to date, no blackhole Japanime mouths or ridiculous speed talking ala Speed Racer, and the fact that no one has to yell "<their name> Transform!!" while the background skews into Pokemon colors. I still don't like the 'Tick vs Samurai Jack vs Powepuff Girls' design aesthetic of this series, but the animation is definitely tight and much better than I thought it would be.

I love Cory Burton's G1 voice work - Shockwave & Brawn were always two of my favorite voices, in fact - but I'm not really feeling his Megatron. Sounds 'too human' again. And imo Prime's voice has zero impact. I know we'll never get Cullen calibre, but I was still hoping for something with more oomph to it. But that all pales in comparison to having another female TF in the mix (sorry, I've just never been on board with female TF's) and deal with more kid characters. I'll give the show a chance, but I can already tell those two elements in particular will be major detractors for me.
