Re: Movie figures garnering little action at toy stores

I think it mainly because the movie isn't out yet, and that stores are not stocking the toys.

I've been to Toys R Us, and there are zero Deluxe class figures on the pegs, and Leader is too pricey for the casual buyers at $60.
Walmart and Target have even less stock of TF4 stuff...

Just overall poor distribution and minimal marketing so far is causing the slow sales...

But it has always been the case... Each movie line has always had a whole bunch of sublines for the kids. Legends, Fast Action Battlers, Gravity Bots, Real Gear, Robot Replicas, Cyber Slammers, Cyber Stompers, etc. It's nothing new.

I think the article nails it, its product fatigue. You can only repackage old IP so many times before it gets stale. At seven years and running movie toys are simply too repetitive. Hasbro needs to make a break and try a different ascetic and story line. We need something as different from the Bay movies as Animated was. People are exited by novelty and bored by more of the same. Time for a change.

Instead of doing 5 different items of the same character, they should put more effort into doing a good class figure of each and only one. Make better detailed, better looking figures, one per character. Not dollarstore knockoffs at more then double prices.

You could be right. I didn't buy most of that so I may just not remember it.

Not to mention at least for us in Canada, market pricing does not help the cause. Part of our higher cost is delivery and the other part is it's what we'll pay. How else would $9.92 Generations deluxes and $5 BH deluxes make sense to the powers that be after Christmas.

I sure would love another trip to Mexico right now to see what is going on there, we need some world perspective here.

Re: Movie figures garnering little action at toy stores

Hasbro needs to stop thinking that this is 2007. I want to hope that it's going to be like 2007, and they will all disappear once the movie shows up.. but that didn't happen for ROTF and absolutely not for DOTM.

Also unfortunate that I'm not helping with shelf space freeing up - just cannot deal with the movie aesthetic anymore.
