Re: MLB 2015 Thread

I'll admit, I am a bandwagoner, but it is nice to have a team to root for in the MLB playoffs. Go Jays!

Re: MLB 2015 Thread

While I do wish the Jays well, I've been at Twins fan for 30 years and have been to around 40 games in Minneapolis over the years.

That is a long time between playoff runs for the Jays. Since 1993 the Twins have been in the playoffs like 6 times(2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2009 & 2010) As well as winning in 1987 and 1991 of course.

Alas, in Twins currently have a 13 game post season losing streak(not counting the single game tie breaker they won against Detroit the one year), so getting there isn't everything

Re: MLB 2015 Thread

He's been through a lot since coming here. He has shown to play with a lot of passion.

The guy's been a face of the franchise for the past 6 years.

It's also he was playing to the crowd. I'm not sure if he would have done that bat flip in Texas.

The city was loud last night.

Maple Leafs? Pfft.
Raptors? You had your chance last year, and you got swept.

This is how you get a city (country) behind you.

Re: MLB 2015 Thread

To me the bat flip and celebration was way over the top considering it wasn't a walk off moment, but that's how a lot of guys do it now.

It was also a little misplaced considering that Texas handed the game to them with essentially four errors, three in a row leading into that home run.

It wasn't time to stare down the pitcher and show him up with this "look what I accomplished because Texas gave us an extra three outs this inning" type deal.

In short, I am happy the Blue Jays won and that fans are so pumped up, but to me the celebration ruined the moment to an extent. I mean honestly more people are talking about the bat flip than the home run and there is something backwards about that to me.

About that Bat Flipping Thing issue???
2 things been bugging me.
1) Is it really illegal to flip a bat after you hit a homie???
2) Will that bat flipping thing issue matter if the Jays lose??? (hypothetically?)

Why are they making a big fuzz about it???

It's about those unwritten rules about "show-boating" and "admiring your home run".

Personally, I like the one against Baltimore earlier this year. The game wasn't over, so for me personally, I would/might have done that flip if this was in the bottom of the 9th to win. This (at that moment) was just the "go ahead runs".

When you do stuff like that before the game is over, it pisses off the other team, and it might come back to haunt you in the next inning.

Momentum is a crazy thing in sports.

The city quite loud after the game...and not just in the downtown area.

Re: MLB 2015 Thread

What I'd like to know is why are the Blue Jays already celebrating in the locker room ? They haven't won the World Series yet. They're counting their chickens before they hatch so to speak. Don't get me wrong I hope they win, just weird seeing them party it up so soon as there is still a lot of baseball to play.
