Question Question about Activators

I wanted to know just how sturdy these Transformers Animated Activators are. My son is still a little too young for Transformers toys (3 1/2), but he likes the new cartoon and loves Megatron. I was wondering if an Activator Megatron would stand up to the pounding the little guy would give it, or would I be better off trying to track down a McDonalds Megatron and wait until he's a little older?

Re: Question about Activators

Activators Megs is a nice enough figure - though he has some large propellors hanging off his back.

Re: Question about Activators

Probably too young for the flimsy Activators version. The McDonald's version would be your best bet for now.

Re: Question about Activators

Activators Megatron wasn't all that well-executed. The robot mode looks good, but the transformation to vehicle mode would be difficult for a three-year-old and there's a lot of gearing and other small parts that could break easily with some abuse.

Bumblebee is still the best of that bunch, and would probably hold up well since it doesn't actually use any gears and its Activator mechanisms are fully enclosed.

Then again, Bumblebee's Legends toy is pretty awesome, too, more show-accurate than the Activator and cheaper.

Re: Question about Activators

Although I'd recommend the activator over the legends figure for Bumblebee for young kids, simply due to the size.

And Grimlock is a very good Activator as well - I'd put him up there with Bumblebee.

Re: Question about Activators

Funny that should be mentioned - I'd argue the Leader-class toy is VERY kid-friendly.

Transformation is quite simple - only issue that might be had with it is the force needed to move the ratcheted joints.

Re: Question about Activators

Yeah, I'll second the leader version. It's very sturdy for kids. He might need a little help from Dad to transform him, and the swords might need to be put aside for the time being, but other than that he's A-1!

Cheers!

Re: Question about Activators

I think BB or some other Activators are pretty tough little toys but Megs does seem a little fragile in comparison.

Re: Question about Activators

My nephew is 3 year old and he's having a blast playing with Bumper Battlers. And they're indestructible.
