Classics Powermaster Prime hommage Wip

been working on this for awhile.

Base was a KO Shadow commander i picked up at Fan expo (with the intention of repainting it)

Since the last 2 weeks I've done a total pallete swap, repainting it over in Prime colors.

One of those things that always urked me about FP's Optimus sets was you always end up with a GIANT blotch of RED in the upper half in trailer mode which just killed it for me.

Still planning to beat up kit some (add battle damage, dirty it up some).
- planing to mod the head to be more prime like (tempted to wait till i can recast it for a spare just in case)
- IF i can get my hands on or recast a set of MG gundam hands plan to Rip off the kit hands and give old PM PRime a new articulated set.

Aside from a total repaint, I've also added a very minimal G1 styled custom decals to the kit, consisting of
- Trailor autobot stripe down each side in PMPrime G1 style
- Tail lights
- License plate made in canadian style (attached img of it as too small to see in pics)

Re: Classics Powermaster Prime hommage Wip

thanks venksta. this is my first time working with a TF toy (been doing gundams for years).

Right now I need to figure out a safe way to strip off the Acrillic I'm using as the silver lines in trailer mode need to be redone, my masking bleed instead of coming out as a Nice crisp line.

Any suggestions are welcome

Did you have another layer of paint put on under the silver stripes? If not, you could use oxy clean?

That's actually a pretty sweet paint job. Good work, and welcome to the boards!

Re: Classics Powermaster Prime hommage Wip

Thank you everyone for the kind words.

Venstra: Actually no, there isn't another layer of paint just the factory paint, but as i'm planning to basically strip the whole panel clean to try and get a nice crisp line, someone suggested nail polish remover, and as i don't have any oxyclean i will try that first, if it doesn't do much I will try the OC.

but again, thanks for all the comments and keep them and any suggestions coming guys.

Re: Classics Powermaster Prime hommage Wip

nail polish remover isn't that good, it might weaken the plastic, go with rubbing alcohol first

EDIT: Okay tried the 99 proof Alcohol. (is it blurry in here or just me? )

Oh my slaggin Primus!.... two swips with a rag took like 90% of 5 yes 5 layers of paint off.. This stuff can have my future offspring once the wife don't want the job no more
