Re: Anybody for Toy Hunter ?
Yes, we have had topics about it here before I believe.
I enjoy watching the show but at times the information the host gives us is highly inaccurate.
I love finding out about the toy lines I never knew existed, like Love Boat.

Re: Anybody for Toy Hunter ?
Yup, great show. I met his nemesis from the show (I forget his name, dark hair, gothic looking guy) at the Fanexpo last year. He was a really nice guy. He told me they are going to do season 3 and 4. But I haven't heard anything official yet. I hope he was right cause I really enjoyed learning about all the various toy lines. But sometimes I feel he over values some of the toys and pays too much. But its a fun show.

Re: Anybody for Toy Hunter ?
It's pretty cool seeing all the vintage toys and learning some stuff about them. That said, the show comes off really scripted on how every episode some super rare figure is mysteriously discovered by the hosts random diving.
I recently started watching Comic Book Men, it's got some funny moments but also seems scripted to a degree. The asian guy is a likeable character and you can't help but feel sorry for the guy and want to cheer for him to gain some respect.

Re: Anybody for Toy Hunter ?
I feel the same a CC.
Show is fun and it's nice to see all these cool toys but it is a crazy amount of scripted. I saw an episode where a guy wanted to sell his Lucky Draw Enegon Rodimus. The toy hunter just pulled it out of a box that supposedly had other toys in it. The guy knew what it was but if you had a 1000$ transformer would you place him in a box without covering him in SOME sort of protection?
Especially with gold chrome :P

Comic book men is loosely based off a podcast called Tell 'em Steve Dave. It was started by Walt, Bryan Johnson (Beard Guy) and had an off-mic sound guy by the name of Brian Quinn (or Q). Over the first few episodes Q was featured a bit more more until he became a full fledged part of the show. Ming (the Asian) doesn't really work for Walt, but has been the tech support guy for Kevin Smith for years. He does work out of an office at the Stash so he is on the pod quite often and he takes all sorts of abuse from the guys, but on the pod you hear why... he really brings it on himself.
Q is not featured on Comic Book Men because he has his own show called Impractical Jokers.
Anyways, the podcast has very little to do with Comics, but I think it is almost better. Just a few guys, sitting around, joking and bustin' each others balls... good times.

Re: Anybody for Toy Hunter ?
Is the tv show Comic Book Men more about toys or comics? What's the basic premise?

A typical "reality" type show like Pawn Stars, but deals with more geek culture stuff. They typically have a ham fisted storyline throughout the show, but it's aways scripted.
People do try to come in a sell their stuff and it can be interesting, but the end price is often laughable.

Re: Anybody for Toy Hunter ?
Actual transactions of comic book men are pretty few and far between. One or two per show. The bulk of the show is the skits, like Superman's 75th last week featuring Dean Cain. It took like 3/4 of the show.
I actually wish it was more like Pawn Stars so I would get to see more cool stuff.
