Re: Canadian Slag Episode 30 - Full Discharge

Wow! Raining the HATE down on Shattered Glass. I really like the Shattered Glass idea, but I'll admit, like seemingly everything else they've done fiction wise, they had a good idea, but could follow through with it. BotCon 08 sucked too.

I could see this being covered as a future topic discussion

Hate is such a strong word, and note none of us said hate. It was a straight up critique, and I'll stick to my guns. It was a previously used concept which as the one shot for the set worked well, but after that, it went to hell in a hand basket doing numerous obvious, terrible, and stupid things which got irritating over time...since it's dragged on for 2 years, put a nail in this now crappy coffin.

Re: Canadian Slag Episode 30 - Full Discharge

Great episode, guys! (And dare I say, back on form too!)

Just a few small thoughts...

I don't think I can ever look at Blazemaster the same now after knowing the alternate meanings of "blaze". Man, doesn't anyone call it "eating out" anymore?

(And the fact that Wheeljack is now just a couple of synonyms from "circle jerk" is very disturbing...)

I had always wished that Hasbro had done more of the Legends sized minibots. A Swerve would have been a nice addition to the collection - as would any of the other little guys from that time.

As for Shattered Glass, I'm just as happy as anyone to see it ride off into the sunset. I mean, it was a fun idea, but keeping it around has just sucked the fun out of it. I mean, even Star Trek kept it to being one of those "once in a blue moon" plot devices. A counter-fiction to an established fiction ends up being such a cliche of itself that it tends not to leave room for too many surprises - or at least if not written creatively.

But that said, it was a better idea than Wings of Honor. So, I don't want to seem too hard on it either.

Now, I've heard the term in the podcasts, but somehow missed the definition. What exactly is a "meema"?
(And how do you even spell it?)

We were off form? No one said anything! We accept all rational forms of criticism :P

....and I think you're confusing "meme" (a cultural item that is transmitted by repetition in a manner analogous to the biological transmission of genes.) with Meema

If we did EVERY "bad" name, the show would have gone on forever.

I've never sent back a drink at a bar until Botcon '08. Cincinnati is a hole.
