Experience selling collection on Kijiji and other places

Hi everyone,

I've slowly been falling out of the hobby and it looks like I'll be downsizing my collection considerably this year. I'll be keeping some favorite items and some display things, but a large portion of my toys are going to have to find new homes. I was wondering if I could get some advice on good ways to go about selling things.

eBay is an option of course, but I find that the time and effort to sell things through there is quite a pain. It'll likely be my last hope for selling.

This site has been a good place to sell and trade some items too, but I don't know if it's the best option either.

Do any of you have experience (good or bad) selling items through kijiji or craigslist or the like? I'd be interested to hear it.

Thanks!

I would use ebay as the final option.

These boards(or other tf site forums) are your best bet. i would start with a sales thread and see what sells and what doesn't. That will give you a good idea of the market atm.

Kijiji can be ok, but I've found most people will lowball you on prices.

I sell lots on kijiji, but always find that posting on these boards is by far the best way of selling. People on here tend to know a figure's value way better than randoms on kijiji. Note that you have lots of Edmonton board members that will probably buy your stuff.

Yeah, don't downplay the local scene, be it through the sales section here or even through local classifieds. I dunno what the Edmonton one is called or if it exists, but I'd be really surprised if they didn't have a city or otherwise area specific homepage.

Kijiji is hit or miss. I've sold stuff through Kijiji that I would have otherwise never sold on the boards where as I've sold stuff on the boards cause it would never sell on kijiji. Never hurts to copy and paste your sales thread on to kijiji and keep your options open.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I think I'll start here. At least that way I know these things are going to good homes.

If there were dealer tables left at TFCon, I'd suggest going that route first.

If your close enough to a con that would definitely be the way to go. I'm trying to move a bunch I don't need now, am thinking about downsizing myself. And doing con sales in the past for other things, it would be my first choice if I could.
