Steampunk Transformers

We had the Hearts of Steel series, which would very much fall into the Steampunk category, but we've seen very few figures in that style.

Knight Morpher (Optimus Prime), Cyclops (Shockwave), and the Assassin Squad (Insecticons) from Mastermind Creations fit the bill, considering their source in HoS, but we've seen very few others at all.

RoTF did have Ransack and Divebomb, which do fit very well in the Steampunk genre.

And then that's it as far as I can tell.

So are there any other figures that I missed that qualify as Steampunk?

Are there any figures that really need to be seen in the Steampunk style?

I nominate Perceptor, Wheeljack, and Ratchet. Three who I think would do well with a Victorian industrial inventor tinkerer sort of vibe.

What does everyone else think?

Re: Steampunk Transformers

I just can't really stand steampunk. Somehow I felt that as worth a post on the internet.

Re: Steampunk Transformers

I'm neutral towards steampunk. I like it, but I don't love it, but I wouldn't mind seeing more.

That said, I think there seem to be variations of steampunk, some of which I like more than others.

I can't think of any other Steampunk figures offhand.

Figures I'd like to see done in steampunk style: Soundwave and his cassettes, the Combaticons, and Omega Supreme.

Re: Steampunk Transformers

I always thought Trypticon would look amazing some kind of giant industrial era fortress city.

Omega Supreme could work really well too since his Energon interpretation made him split into a train and a battleship, so the potential is there.

Re: Steampunk Transformers

DOTM megs is pretty Steampunk-ish. The figure doesn't convey it all too much but his concept and appearence in the movie definetly does.

Re: Steampunk Transformers

Axor & Lockdown seem fitting, and so does a certain Scourge (g1) custom that I saw not too long ago.

Re: Steampunk Transformers

While I find the Mastermind Creations figures definitely have a steampunk vibe to them I don't find any other figures do.

Omega Supreme does lend well to the whole Steampunk feel, just needs some tweaking.

I completely forgot about Vector Prime. What with the gears and clockwork and colours, he's extremely Steampunk.

There's an insane number of variations on Steampunk. Gothic, Victorian, Edwardian, WWI through WWII (though that's usually "Dieselpunk"), and the list goes on and on. The DreamWave WWII Transformers G.I.Joe crossover comic series was more or less Dieselpunk in style. Mind you I wasn't a fan of the art in that series. So dark most of the details were lost.

When you look carefully at things, Steampunk pops its head out. Chrono Trigger was in the genre, as was FFVI. Vision of Escaflowne was also quite Steampunk.

Its pretty much Cyberpunk executed with an old style using old means, where newtonian physics are king.

I'm by no means an expert, and by no means a Steampunk nut. I just find it pretty cool.
