Select TRU no longer offering Rainchecks on Transformers
I walked into Toysrus today, seeking a raincheck for the deal they had on Titans Return leader toys (at $35 CAD) and was told that corporate has decided that rainchecks will no longer be given for Transformers items. There has allegedly been some foul play involving rainchecks and it got bad enough that Toysrus Canada has decided to stop this practice entirely. This was discovered in Quebec so let us know if you hear the same at your local Canadian Toysrus.

Not saying it isn't true, but it seems highly unlikely that Transformers would be solely singled out. If it were Star Wars and Marvel as well, or something like that, I could see it. Just doesn't seem right to me.
Interesting to see it if is true.
If so, yet another reason that TRU sucks lately.

I was told it did, and I am currently seeking confirmation from elsewhere. This is new of today so any confirmation would be greatly appreciated.
And yes, Transformers were singled out, you can still get rainchecks for other items.

Not to belittle the provi ce, but Quebec always seems to have weird rules in regards to some of the most random stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if this only applied to Quebec region stires.
Equally as likely is that that store manager in particular decided to make his own rules and tell the employees that "corporate" made the rule. this actually happens more often than you'd think.

FYI
Last saturday, I was at the Whalley Toyrus and was given a Raincheck for the TR Leaders, but it was only good for their store only.

There wouldn't be any "foul play" if Hasbro used different SKUs for each wave.

wouldn't surprise me if some individuals photoshopped rainchecks to be cheaper

Interesting, so I could simply go try out another TRU.

This supports the comment above that stores have their own rules. Which is bonkers because its not like these are licensed stores or independently owned. its one corporation, what the hell is up with these individual rules. A guy in alberta also commented that a store always give him the stink eye when he uses a raincheck from another TRU. Like who cares, the money all goes to the same place!

I agree. I would be all for it. It would also help us know which toys are where. This whole raincheck thing is just the cost of the simpler system they implemented. Everything has its pros and cons.

Re: TRU Canada no longer offering Rainchecks on Transforrers
I managed to get a raincheck during the last 25% sale without much hassle. I was polite and explained that the product I wanted to buy was out of stock (which it was), which is the correct application of the policy.
If TRU is, in fact, cracking down on rainchecks because they were being abused, I'd say it's a case of a few bad eggs ruining things for everybody. And those people know exactly who they are.
