Donate Toys For The Less Fortunate This Holiday Season
It's the Holiday season once again and we as toy collectors need to do our part to help out the less fortunate this year.
One single toy can make a big difference to a child on Christmas.
Here's some helpful tips to help out this holiday season:
-Find a toy drive being held in your area, such as Toys for Tots. Also check with civic groups in your area to see if they are collecting toys for local kids.
-Look online to find the nearest collection box for toys.
-Check your local newspaper, listen to the radio or watch for announcements on television that give gift-giving guidelines and locations.
-Ask the agency collecting toys if it prefer its donations unwrapped so workers can see the items and match them to children who will enjoy them.
-Select toys that do not need batteries or additional parts that a child's family may not be able to provide.
-Engage your children in selecting gifts for other kids. This is a valuable way to teach them the importance of giving

Re: Donate Toys For The Less Fortunate This Holiday Season
We actually do a toy drive each Christmas where I work. Just last week, I noticed that someone had dropped off a HFTD Voyager Seaspray, and I have an extra Breacher here, so I'm going to drop it off this week along with something else. What a great way to celebrate Christmas and help make some less fortunate children happy over the Holidays ! Awesome Thread !!!

I donated a bunch of extra figures last week at my daughter's daycare: a Scout Scattershot, a MOSC Star Wars figure and a MOSC Legends Barricade.

Re: Donate Toys For The Less Fortunate This Holiday Season
My girlfriend is a teacher, and she knows quite a few needy kids in her school, so I've been picking up decent toys on clearance to donate.

Re: Donate Toys For The Less Fortunate This Holiday Season
I do a drop-off at the Police HQ. I think the fuzz and fire departments often do toy drives. I got a couple of HA figures to donate from the $15 TRU sale a while back.

The Salvation Army runs "Toy Mountain" here in Calgary (and all of Alberta?). Some of the collecting locations have changed though since Petro Canada is gone as a sponsor now (It's Encana).

Re: Donate Toys For The Less Fortunate This Holiday Season
This is my rule - If I want to buy me something, then I must buy the kids something as well. It appeals to my sense of guilt and morality... or would if I had one.

Re: Donate Toys For The Less Fortunate This Holiday Season
We do this every year. Especially easy if you pick up an extra $10 voyager (or whatever) at Wal-Mart when they are on sale. Makes it easier - "one for me and one for the kids come Christmas".
It requires a minor amount of planning, but it's a good thing, and doesn't cost much.
