Prime going nuts *SPOLIERS WARNING*
When Prime found out that Ratchet got slaughtered by Lockdown and Attinger, he went ballistic. But he didn't go ballistic after he found out about Ironhide's, Leadfoot's death. I understand that Jazz died before Prime's arrival and he showed some emotions. But what's so special about Optimus and Ratchet's relationship/friendship, I thought Ironhide was Prime's oldest and most trusted friend.
Any thoughts?

Re: Prime going nuts *SPOLIERS WARNING*
They were old war buddies. They shared lube, polished each other's tailpipes, and one time they merged cogs. Just once, and they never spoke about it again. Though I think Ratchet longed to Prime touch his cog again.

Re: Prime going nuts *SPOLIERS WARNING*
Not enough funds to make Optimus retaliate
For iron hides demise in dark of the m9on
Optimus is very expensive to rent for 5 minutes of dialog
And fighting lol!!!

Re: Prime going nuts *SPOLIERS WARNING*
It's a case of better writing is all.
In movie 4 the Autobots are actual characters, Prime included.

Re: Prime going nuts *SPOLIERS WARNING*
I think it's a combination of things. He's after losing quite a few friends over the time they've been on Earth, both due to the Decepticon and human battles. And after fighting for mankind for quite some time, and to be treated like the enemy, he's had enough ! Now, seeing how Ratchet and Leadfoot died was what pushed him over the edge. His friends were hunted down and slaughtered by the folks who were supposed to be their allies, so he feels betrayed and wants revenge. Who can blame him ?

But yelling "I'll KILL them ALL!" Don't think I ever heard him say that before.

If it's about writing them as characters, Prime has become a pretty terrible character.
The great tragedy of the 4th movie is they've turned Optimus into a gun crazed homicidal maniac with a lust for revenge and warped sense of what "freedom" means.
For example, this is what he says to convince Grimlock to join him.
"We're fighting for your freedom..... now join me, OR DIE...."
