US Credit Cards?

Is it possible for a non-US-American to get a US credit card? I just found out that there are some issues with a supplier I use regularly that is no longer shipping to Canada and will not accept credit cards from outside the US.

Just wondered if someone else has tried getting a US based CC.

Thanks!

Re: US Credit Cards?

You mean credit cards from the US or USD cards?
Canadian banks offer USD credit cards as well.

As for a credit card from the US, IIRC, you must go to a branch in-person to open any accounts there (at least the basic brick-and-mortar branches), I'd assume that it'd be the same for credit card application procedures.

Then comes the problem of paying the credit card in USD funds. You'd probably need a USD bank account, which you can send funds by wire transfer or thru paypal transferring.

Seems like a lot of hassle costs that can outweigh the benefits, but if the merchants/supplier seems that beneficial to you, why not?

Or are you referring to toy purchases or dental/office ordering supplies?

Re: US Credit Cards?

I would think you will need an US address to get a card form a US bank, and a shipping address there to that can forward your mail up here.

Re: US Credit Cards?

I'm sure it is possible as I see clients all the time that have to payoff theirs off.

Here is the BMO Harris website for their card:

Supplies. I would not go to that much trouble for a toy.

TJ - I'll have to take a look at that link and see how much of a headache this is going to be.

Might just be easier to bribe a US middleman to do the dirty work for me.
