"Korean Box"?
So I'm poking around on BBTS for the first time, really, looking at the Beast Wars stuff for kicks. What does all this "Korean Box" business mean? Are they still official Takara releases? Are they KOs? They are a tremendous amount cheaper, which makes me curious about the situation.

Re: "Korean Box"?
So if they're official, why the massive price difference? For example, Big Convoy is only, like, 36 bucks or something, where it's 80 for the loose other release. I guess people really like Japanese boxes...
Are there any differences besides the box, though? As a toy-opener, this seems like a logical path to take, as long as the toy itself isn't altered too drastically.

Re: "Korean Box"?
The big difference is that the figures "feel" like knock off products, although they are officially endorsed.
I have a few of the Korean releases from BW 2 and BW Neo. Their quality is not exactly up to par with the standard Takara and Hasbro releases.
The plastic looks a bit different, feels different, and is much lighter.
They haven't broken, or shown stress markings or anything. I'd suggest getting only one and seeing for yourself before getting more Korean releases.
edit: stickers are really crappy on the Korean releases, paint's not as good, but the figures do have it.

Re: "Korean Box"?
Figures are identical in quality. That myth has been debated/debunked countless times already.

Re: "Korean Box"?
I have some of the Korean Box TF and the quality is the same as the Takara (Japan) versions.

Re: "Korean Box"?
Yeah, i'd agree that the toy quality is the same but personally, the packaging is a bit hobo imo.

But if I'm gonna chuck the boxes anyways, saving a handful of bucks is something to consider.
Thanks, chaps.

Re: "Korean Box"?
I bought the Korean version of Big Convoy, Magmatron and Car Robots' Brave Maximus years ago in high school. Fast forward to today and I have the official ones from Japan too, Magmatron is 100% the same, nothing is different, Big Convoy, the JAPANESE version has a loose neck ball joint but still 100% the same, Brave Maximus's "city mode" tower sticker is unside down but also 100% the same otherwise.
There is no quality shift from Korean............ China on the other hand...
