WST Liokaiser

This is one of those projects that sat on the shelf way too long...I procrastinated due to anticipated difficulty, and in hindsight, it wasn't too bad.

Okay, first I started with a KO Kabaya model kit that I purchased a couple of years ago from Toyhell:

I started by assembling the entire kit first, because the parts had considerable flash and fit/finish issues. The scale was very, very small and the plastic is a bit rubbery:

This is what I ended up with...all the wrong colors, but the sculpt was very promising. During the assembly process I also got a feel for which parts were loose (where I'd allow a build up of paint), which parts I could leave their original color (I always avoid paint where I can) and which parts needed tweaking and clearances.

Here's the final result next to the boxes and instructions.

Here he is compared to the other WST KO out there, which has a really odd arm that seems to be a retool of double dealer...finally, a WST in scale AND with the appropriate arm!!!

Yep, each guy has a breastmaster!

More pictures in the next post...

Re: WST Liokaiser

Here are all the Alt-modes...they appear very accurate to the original. I have since fixed the pink paint as I missed a few spots...

Windows on the jets and vehicles were done by scraps from Repolabels...

The paint did a lot to improve their joints and feeling of solidity...

Here he is combined, relative to WST Superion, my Galvatron, Rodimus Prime, and HeeroToysMaker Ultra Magnus:

And here's a pic that provides an idea of how small the individual Bots really are:

He's actually a little shorter than a deluxe:

And here are a couple of final pics of the completed project:

So overall the project was a lot of fun...challenging at that scale, but it is nice to have a realistic Liokaiser in the WST collection.
I still have a couple of minor touch-ups to do, but overall the color change was worth it.

Re: WST Liokaiser

Awesome job, I only recently got interested in this character. Does your version allow him to have his combined weapon?

Thanks guys... :-)

Yes, you can combine the weapon just like the G1 toy...I didn't for the pics to avoid paint scrapes ;-)
