BotCon 2008 -details revealed!

The BotCon 2008 details have been revealed!

www.botcon.com click the brochure link

Standouts:

-Thursday includes tours of the city and some army museum.
Ooookay, so that's really a Transformers filled day... :roll sarcastic eyes:

-The BotCon toys are all recolors with only a few new heads expected. Big step down from last year's exclusive & extensive Thrust remold.
Plus none of them are classic characters like last year, but new mirrored Universe doubles. (coincidentally, Sliders season 4 out on dvd this year )

-Special guests un-announced. Hope they don't pull 1 over on us again like last year when they announced most of their guests, just the WEEK before the convention.

-2 customizing classes: Figure Customizing & Molding/Casting. These sound very cool!

-Transformers fan film competition. This looks really fun. I hope they schedule it reasonably, not in competition with other high-profile events.

Whew, I'm very thankful that I have zero interest in this year's Mirrorverse (or whatever they're calling it) set of figures - it just saved me a lot of money & hassle trying to get them. I'm glad last year was such a one-off occurance - for obvious (Seeker) reasons - but I was still a little worried they would pull out at least one "must have" figure this year. Unless something like Classics Sunstorm ends up being an attendee exclusive, I think I'm in the clear.

* It's not that I even necessarily want a Classics Sunstorm either, but if they did make him, I'd need to have it. Chalk it upto having a Seeker OCD collector problem.

there is still lacking a lot of information on the web site. but so far, it's driving distance from TO and the timing is good and since TFcon get pushed back, I have no reason not to go.

Also, Why would any group of "noble" robots fighting for "good" call themselves "Decepticons", As in ""robots of deception"? Even in mirror universe, that doesn't make since.

I was considering going to botcon this year for the first time after how great the last one was with the movie, Cullen attending, and the classics figures but I don't see anything that really compels me to want to go this year. Think I'll save my cash too.

Wow, it's as if Raksha was doing another Con-Quest. But I am still curious to the fiction related to it. So Mees we talking a 15 hour car trip?

If you want to relate it to real life (humans), a larger tyrant will always propaganda the smaller resistence good guys as "evil, decieving", so it's easily a name given to them.

Of course if you wanna think of Transformers as beyond our petty world politics (which I like to) then the Decepticons could have been the 1's to invent Transforming and this disguise was a form of Deception.

So there could be bunch of logical reasons, which I don't expect they'll go into at BotCon.
