X2 ,

I still enjoy watching them, good entertainment. I think it's great that they have done live action TF movies and I hope for more. Could I pick them apart, yes!. But I still like them, and as long as they keep making money, the brand and movies, cartoons should contnue.

Looking forward to seeing it and hoping they knock it out of the park with this one.

Come on Bay! you can do it!!!!!! .

Bring on UM & Rodimus

Yeah but as summer blockbuster popcorn movies, Bayformers movies are still full of crap compared to MCU and other comic book movies. I did enjoy the first one, but the others are just so bad. I know it's hard to compare because you just can't make CGI robot act like Captain America. But even full CGI Ultron, Rocket raccoon and Groot have more character and personalities than any Bayformer.

That appears to be the speculation based just on the Optimus teaser picture. Some influence of dark energon or unicron.

Just to be clear the studios had nothing to do with Star Wars. Lucas didn't want to make more films so he didn't. Same reason he took a 16 year hiatus between ROTJ & TPM.

By that logic the Original Trilogy was so bad that Star Wars got put aside for 16 years

The roughly 2.5 billion dollars the Prequels made would have made them more than viable to any studio actually wanting to make a film. Arguably we got a brand new Star Wars film in 2008, albeit an animated one tied to a new TV show, because Lucas wanted to do that.

Batman & Bond you may be right on, I don't know anything about those.

As for Transformers 5, I can't wait. These are fun films that appeal to a wide audience that overall are a great benefit to the franchise on a lot of different levels.

That is pretty subjective. I find the Bay film far more entertaining than the Marvel films in general - and the Marvel films are OK by me, just not homeruns in general.

Re: First Look at Transformers 5 Optimus Prime

As someone who grew up with G1 I was quite disappointed with the first movie. Could barely make out any real defined features on the robots, especially when fighting (though I really enjoyed the highway scene) and far too much focus on the humans. I wanted to see the robots I grew up with interacting with each other and have some sort of human features to their look and not some awkward teenager fall for some chick and avoid his parents.
The 2nd movie was more of the same and far more immature, mostly due to the writers strike.
The 3rd movie I liked best because it had more bots and a much darker tone. It gave a feeling of dread like the Autobots might not win.
The 4th was just one long 2hr commercial. Completely took away any enjoyment of a moderately good TF movie. Also pissed at the big hype surrounding the Dinobots only to give them about 5min of screen time. If you haven't watched the Honest Trailers for this movie, you really should.
For the 5th movie, I'll still watch it hoping for the best but expecting the worst.

Pretty much. Michael Bay is a TERRIBLE action director. Just compare his actions scenes to the scenes in Mad Max Fury Road and it's clear they're subpar, and it's not like Fury Road had much of a story either! But it was still a much better movie.

And they always have that one big marketing push for something in the movie, only for it to only show up for like 10 minutes at the very end.

Megatron, Devastator, Shockwave/The Wreckers, The friggin' Dinobots. It's just so tedious to see all these trailers and posters and other mercantile crap trying to capitalize on some good old nostalgia, but in the end it's clear the writer were just shoehorning it into their script because they had to and didn't give a crap about any of those elements. They had to be there so they were and they made toys... and that's it. Completely wasted.

Michael Bay has directed "The Rock", which is great action movie ( in my opinion).

I was wondering if I was the only one who felt more or less exactly like this...

...with perhaps my having the more extreme reaction of, when having finally watched the Avengers, going: "THIS is what everyone was so hyped about?! They complained about the TF movies - but THIS two-hour, mediocre glorified cut-scene is amazing?! Pffff!"

Marvel has been doing action movies far better than anything TF related.

You must just not like good movies, that's ok there's lots of shitty movies out there that make money, like The Force Awakens.

What annoys me the most about all of this is that you guys are perfectly willing to accept sub-par garbage and claim if we complain it might end.

GOOD, let it end, maybe when they do the inevitable reboot they'll do it right.
