Star Trek Into Darkness
Final trailer is out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=2nRI4fftGB4
Thoughts:
- Thanks to J.J. Abrams this is definitely not Roddenberry's Star Trek anymore...
- ...however Star Wars EP VII is gonna rock!
- Cumberbatch has to be Khan or at least related to the Eugenics Wars backstory of the Trek Universe
- Alice Eve as Carol Marcus = win
- Alice Eve in her underwear = maximum win
- da fuq was that huge starship John Harrison was captain of???
- Hasta La Vista, 1701. Hello, 1701-A?
- I am gonna watch the shit out of this in IMAX 3D on May 17th!

If it plays out anything like this I'll be happier than a Tribble gorged on Quadro-Triticale:
Cumberbatch, bass-tone voiced and menacing
(as JH/KNS):
I shall leave you as you left me, marooned for all eternity in the center of a dead planet... buried alive! Buried alive...!
Pine, veins popping out of his temples in rage
(as Kirk):
Khhhhaaaannnn!!!!

I like to see the new Star Trek as more "entertaining" and less "sci-fi cerebral". Don't get me wrong, I'm re-watching all of TNG in order (with a smattering of TOS here and there) and nothing beats the great writing and stories of Trek in its hey day.
But I'll have to disagree with you in calling Abrams talentless. He's a got a great eye for (fast) pacing and he knows what modern audiences want to see at the multiplex. A Trek movie with submarine-like battle scenes and diatribes about V'Ger travelling the expanse of the universe to conclude that it is alone just won't cut it anymore.

Slight MLP-themed thread derailment alert :
Ashleigh Ball, Vancouverite / musician / voice over actress / friend of my wife-extraordinaire, is the voice of Apple Jack and Rainbow Dash.
End derailment.
Get back to work you weirdo Bronies and Trekkies.
