I just flipped the two gray fins (blue to the front, molding rectangle hollow away from the figure's midline) and left the red ones as is, this way in aircraft carrier mode so they can fold up along the side without interfering with each other. I mean, they never sat flat with the inner calves anyways, so I figure this was an improvement. Downside is that they can't all fold in robot mode because they interfere with the top of the foot.
- Start in aircraft carrier mode.
- spread the bow so Broadside's feet are heel to heel.
- pop the bridge down as normal for jet mode.
- spread the 4 fins near the bow into an X formation.
- spread the wings and flip the stern runway to expose the nose of the plane.
- disengage the shoulders and move them towards the bow as normal.
- lightly press the forearms into the body so they somewhat sit flat.
- insert the central gun peg into the middle of the runway, barrel pointing forward.
- flip Broadside over so his plane mode is on top
- keep the central strut near the back of the plane deployed, but retract the two struts on either side of the cockpit.
- done.
It isn't perfect, but I'll take this plane mode over the official one.
