Quality Control Issues (2012)

After getting ROTF Whirl, I figured I would resurrect this thread for the new year.

Apparently, the piece connecting the section with the top of his cockpit fuselage was inserted backwards on to the axle. While it doesn't affect transformation, it's been bugging the Hell out of me for the last month.

I tried to correct the assembly when I noticed this:

There is a pin that is holding the axle to the main fuselage and I can't figure out how to remove it without breaking or cutting the figure.

Re: Quality Control Issues (2012)

Guess I should put this here seeing as the search results indicated this thread for my needs.

Well I'm a bit dissapoitned, probably a known issue, but while TFing my Prime RID Arcee back to vehicle mode, her rear wheel on the left ankle (I believe) is so damn tight that it cracked/snapped the black piece of her foot where the pin slides in to hold the assemply in place.

It's a clean break, very smooth, easily fixed with good 'ol super glue, careful application of it should work fine once I pick up a new super glue container. Or perhaps something better for bonding with plastic as I've had recent issues with bonding agents that should work on plastic.

Fortunately the piece didn't shatter or anything. And I could just return her, but what are the chances of finding another Arcee on the shelf? Yes, useless without picks as well, I just didn't have time to take any and it isn't that hard to figure out what I mean.

Man if I was like some collectors I'd be really cheesed off at this, first time TFing her back after just getting her two days ago and she breaks. Still the tightness of those moving parts is a real nuisance and it isn't like I can loosen it up. I suspected there'd be breakage issues there, even trying to be careful with her can be a bit dicey.

Ah well. Just a cautionary tale for my fellow TF Enthusiasts, if you weren't aware of it already, be mindful of her damn ankles/rear wheel thing.

Re: Quality Control Issues (2012)

My prid rumble had a wheel that needed fixing right out of the package. Luckily it was an easy fix, but we shouldn't have to.
QC issues aren't just a Hasbro thing. Seems everyone is joining in.

I wasn't aware that the pin inserting machines were actual people. Seriously aren't the pins put in via machine, the screws and stuff assembly I can see a person doing, but not those pins. (Hence why we get them pushed in incorrectly resulting in stress marks and breakage.)

my GDO Dead End had two left shoulder joints so I had to shave off some plastic on the right one to push the arm in completely for alt mode

Human being still need to load the machines and align the parts. All the machine does is rapidly fire a piston through some means that pushes a pin rapidly into position.

Think of it like using a nailgun to punch the pins into place.
