I'm not sure if this is necessary. The air duster will blow the dust into the air, later most of them will sit on the ground instead of go back to the same figure, which can be cleaned by vacuum during weekly clean up.

If you really worry, just bring the figure outdoor, then blow it outside while wearing a mask.

That's pretty clever if a tiny bit overkill for me anyways. Still, looks very well built and thought out. Definitely no worrying about the dust going elsewhere. I approve!

You'd be surprised how much the dust will float and resettle back on the shelves and such, just your mouvement will keep it airborne much longer than most realize. I did the air blasting thing and with light showing the airflow and dust particles, then how within a day or two, there was enough of a layer of dust on the shelves that I had to re-clean everything.

Unless you have carpet that grabs the dust, a vacuum blasts up a lot of dust from the exit airflow.

Of course taking it outside would be a good solution for getting rid of the dust, but that's more work that building this device, plus the risk of losing parts in the mouvement.

But the dust thing was even before I displayed part of my collection, just cleaning in a room where the sun was coming through the window really illuminated me on how crazy dust flies around and then started reading up on it and how much we actually breath in and so on.

It only took an afternoon to design, figure out the pieces that I'd need, go get the vinyl, and build it. If I took the time, I'd make a collapsible one. It's a fairly simple design and I was surprised to find that you can't buy these type of things pre-made.



All this to say that unless it's outside, I would never blast dust around. Instead I'd recommend using a small vacuum with limited suction (to not break anything but still powerful enough to grab the dust) with a brush attachment instead. If anything, I'd built a special attachment with brush is I was to move away from using my dust box.
