Re: New design: Decepticon Oversteer

Okay, first let's get some pics of the Alt-mode. The primary design goal was to maintain as much of the Porsche NFS model as possible. The secondary goal is a very Alternator-esque Robot mode.

Surprisingly, the orignal NFS model is made of over 600 pieces, so when I initialy opened the kit I had no idea where to begin! The roof, hood, doors, headlights and tail-lights made sense, but all the other little parts and panels have to be put together in a very specific way. To make matters worse, the entire model is built on 3 big platforms which I certainly couldn't use if I wanted to have any kind of transformation...

So I basically built the outer part of the car according to the instructions, and ruthlessly pared back all extra pieces until I got the chest, legs, etc. For the first version I had the doors perfectly lined up, but I quickly ran out of space to fit in arms and a head....so I had to compromise and make the doors have gaps.

The good news is the doors, hood and trunk still open!

The back is also slightly different than the original model, so I put a decepticon logo back there...best of all no leg joints can be seen.

This is a HUGE model...size comparison with some other building block TFs...

Re: New design: Decepticon Oversteer

The first version did transform, but the waist was way too floppy, wouldn't stand without several supports an he broke all the time. I couldn't even find room to fit the head and arms in the cavities. EPIC FAIL. It looked good, but it just didn't work.

Round 2, 40 hours later, and he can actually transform. Not one portion is 'part-formed'. Let's have Kreo Optimus help us out...wait...Optimus look out, it's an AMBUSH!!!

Damn Decepticon Kreons, always spoiling the fun!

Re: New design: Decepticon Oversteer

And here he is:

He is quite posable, and the wheels can be placed in a few different ways...the leg wheels can be forward or back and the arm wheels can be infront or behind the shoulders.

Head closeup, made entirely of bricks. It's a little hard to see the mouthpiece...looks better than this photo shows...

Alternate wheel position with Lego Prime...

Another shot to give a sense of scale.

That's all guys, thanks for looking!

This looks like it may make me go out and buy some of these Mega Bloks NFS car kits.

Excellent design, never though the NFS sets would work so well. Well done!
