Japan Post has announced its first increase in the cost of express international EMS shipping in more than 20 years. On June 1, 2016 Japan time, rates will rise by 300 to 500 yen for all EMS shipments sent from Japan, depending on which area of the world the package is being shipped to.

HobbyLink Japan is committed to keeping your shipping costs as low as possible, though--so we will absorb part of the increase and keep the rate hike to only 240 to 400 yen!

The EMS rate change will take effect with all HLJ orders invoiced on June 1 Japan time, which might still be May 31 in your part of the world. Orders for available items are invoiced on a daily basis, so if you place an order for available items with EMS shipping on May 31 Japan time after that day's daily invoicing, your order will be invoiced on June 1 Japan time with the new EMS rate.
The cost of SAL Small Packet, SAL Small Packet Registered, and SAL Parcel will remain unchanged. We'll also start offering SAL Parcel as a selectable shipping option to all countries able to receive it.
And as always, our Private Warehouse order handling option helps keep shipping costs low! You can store paid items here for up to 60 days, and combine them to ship the way that works best for you.

Starting from June 1st, 2016, Japan Post will increase their shipping fees for EMS. This will be a general increase of Japan Post’s standard EMS tariffs, therefore it does not only apply to our shop but to any company or person that will use EMS shipping from June.
In light of this price increase, we are considering alternative options to offer to our customers. We will make another announcement regarding this in the near future.
The new EMS fees will be applied to all orders invoiced from June 1st, 2016 onwards, regardless of the date when the order was placed.
More detailed information on the new fees will be posted as soon as available.
