Re: Post your Transformers hauls - 2012 edition

Totally. If I had known , I would not have even bothered ordering it.....I just wanted the Shockwave so I preordered the set from BBTS for $47...ugh. I mean, shockwave looks awesome and all, prime looks ok but jazz sucks. I recommend that nobody buys them unless they can get it for sale at $10 or less. They are so not worth the price of admission to this horror show.

Re: Post your Transformers hauls - 2012 edition

Honestly, I'm not freaking out about the new deluxes being small, especially since people seem to enjoy comparing them to some of the largest deluxes not named Lockdown that we've seen. Also for the Scout argument, Windcharger & Hubcap are some of the largest ones we've seen from those guys, so if one was to lets say, picture them next to guys like Dead End, Dirt Boss or even BW basics, I don't think they'd look as outa place.

Re: Post your Transformers hauls - 2012 edition

Ok, Windcharger is a scout on the larger side of the class but he is the only scout I display with my classics. Here are some pics with the smallest deluxe class figure in the classics line , Classics deluxe Optimus Prime...even he is larger than these new figures.

^Not liking the new Jazz with his fake wheels on the legs, that's just lazy engineering. Have the ROTF toy designers retired or what?

My haul for today:

-Prime Cyberverse Energon Driller + Knockout
-G1 Obliterator Pyro (complete and in great shape save for a broken waist that I easily fixed in minutes with super glue)
-Takara Arms Micron Starscream

Meh, I could care less for scale. Disappointed about his size though, especially with the raised Deluxe prices yet again.

That's my point, id have no problem if this was a "new scale class" at a lower price point and not deluxe scale and price.

Re: Post your Transformers hauls - 2012 edition

Hell, in my review I did of the FOC figures, check it out if you want, its on here, I mention the PRID BB is bigger than both OP and Jazz is alt mode. For those that have the FOC figures...do you find yourself getting tired of them? I feel like that with Jazz actually. I dont much care for him. So now, it goes Shockwave, OP, and Jazz for me.

Anyway, here is my haul. Breakdown Monday (Today) and Figma Samus Friday. Felt like posting Samus here because, I feel like she is my best purchase of 2012. (and yes I know she isnt technically a 'transformer' but she does turn into a ball. So, actually thats my excuse)

Please let me throw in my two (2) cents worth...

RedOktobre's Interpretation
I strongly suspect that Hasbro has strategically reduced the size and scale of many of the TF Prime RID classes (& subsequent lines) in order to:
  • reduce manufacturing costs:
    • smaller size means less raw materials used which leads to lower costs
    • smaller size means faster fabrication which means higher volumes leading to more efficiency
  • to be more "environmentally friendly" by utilizing less plastic
  • to reduce financial risk due to exposure to potential violent price fluctuations in the commodities market (in other words increasing prices of raw materials such as crude oil*)
  • reduce transportion costs since the toys are smaller and lighter
So, what does this mean overall?

Answer
1. Hasbro's will maintain or increase its profitability (quarterly and annually).
2. Higher profits means an increase in shareholder value.
3. By increasing shareholder value, the share price of publically traded Hasbro stock (common & preferred stocks) will go up.
4. When stock prices go up, management bonuses go up too!

For most publically traded companies listed in US Stock Exchanges, the performance measures of top management is tied in with the performance of share prices.

Final Answer
Top management at Hasbro is happy because they got their performance bonus due to increasing profit by decreasing the use of plastic.

*plastic is derived from crude oil

RedOktobre's Class Conversion Summary
TF Prime RID Voyager = over-sized (or large) TF ROTF Deluxes
TF Prime RID Deluxe = over-sized (or large) TF ROTF Scouts
TF Prime RID Cyberverse Commander = over-sized (or large) TF ROTF Legends
