Earthquake might hurt the Jap toy biz ?
as seeing HLJ's news that their stocks are messed due to the earthquake, I was wonder what might be the impact other than a store or may be several online stores will be affected?

...
I'm sure more then one store was affected by the earthquakes...
As for the impact...they probably lost some merchandise...
I think that answered your question...

Death of employees?
HLJ's entire facility is on an artificial floating platform on a dock. In a tsunami event, it can literally be floated away or entirely sunk.

I am sure that the local economy will suffer drastically because of the unfortunate events. Isn't the majority of the molds manufactured in China? It will be interesting to see how things develop. I hope for a speedy recovery.

what a horrific tragedy.
I can't even process it. Like many of you, i've been glued to the tv. I have to admit, as insignificant a concern it is, I also thought about what will happen to Takara.
Prayers are definitely going out to those folks....

Re: Earthquake might hurt the Jap toy biz ?
I suspect some shipments may be late as selfish staff members take time off to dig family members out of the rubble.
Come on, son. 7th largest earthquake in recorded history. Massive tsunami. They can ship out toys when they get a chance.

well, I also asked the "impact" not just stocking or shipping. I am not sure if the earthquake will hurt the factory of Takara or Bandai as well.
If there is more product being defected, they will lost lots of money--> shortage on the toys available--> toys might have inflation again --> we will be influenced as well.

Re: Earthquake might hurt the Jap toy biz ?
^not to mention the lives that were lost either.
they're still tallying up the death count which keeps rising
the impact is felt all around the world, not just in the "toy/collectable" world biz
@nocturn, good to have you back
