Disney is made of money and my guess is Hayden's reappearance is no coincidence.

I am convinced now that VIII will see an end to the Jedi Order to eliminate the threat of the Dark Side / Sith.
IMO, "balance" in the Force doesn't just mean light versus dark. It can also mean shedding the light to excise the dark.
No Jedi, no Sith.

It is going to make me laugh if Luke dies.
The number one reason given by book fans as to why they didn't like the NJO was all the character death, lol. I've taken note though that many of thise same folk were fine with Han dying in EP 7. I bet they will be fine with Luke getting snoked as well

He can just renounce The Force.

I hope killing off Luke or Leia is a risk Disney won't take.
Solo's gone and, IRL, Carrie and Kenny. Adding the twins to that list would just compound the grief.
Thematically, mantles passing and new adventures beginning don't have to involve offing old characters. If a story is told well then the new blood will just simply take the spotlight.
Unless the Sequel Trilogy is truly going for a mirror of the OT, in which case a Force Ghost is needed so Luke is a goner.
